Will River Country ever reopen?

Does anyone know when, if ever, River Country will reopen? It is so handy, when your staying at Ft. Wilderness, and much more suited to the younger kids. Now that they've closed the beach area, and I find the pools very crowded, it would be nice to have another option. Thankyou:

I was at river country the other day (well, i went up to the enterance). all the signage and everything was still there. If i had to guess, i would say that it will probobly re-open sometime, after a big rehab or something. thats just a guess though. right now BLizzard beach is closed, getting a bunch of minor rehabs, and before too long (i can't remember exactly when, might not be till next winter) typhoon lagoon is going to be getting some big new water slide (or something along those lines) added. i'm not sure if it'll be closeing while the new attraction is added though.

My guess is no. It just isn't large enough or new enough to suit most people's needs. I find this unfortunate as I always enjoyed going to River Country. Its just so different from all the other water parks out there.

Disney is currently under the impression that two major water parks is enough for the property--that coupled with the fact that Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon are vastly more popular than River Country, Disney would have no reason to reopen it as a water park. The bacteria levels in Seven Seas Lagoon paired with the out-of-the-way location of this water park really did it in--you say you like it because it wasn't busy, and that is precisely why it is closed, most likely, indefinitely.

The water in the lagoon is not the same at the water in river country. There is a 'bladder' that seperates the two bodies of water. in another thread on these forums, you can see a pic of a drained river country next to a full lagoon.
