I just read the China, starting September 1st, will ban all foreign cartoons from primetime,5-8 PM, i.e. The Simpsons, Pokemon, and of course Mickey Mouse. Now with Mickey unable to promote the Disney name and parks, will the Disney Co. still be able to keep up the park?

I don't see why this would affect anything. Here in NY there are no Mickey Mouse cartoons on in that time frame and that does'nt effect either park in the USA

But Mickey is an American icon. Plus, if you have the Disney Channel and Toon Disney, on Playhouse Disney there is the new Mickey Mouse Cartoon, and no Toon Disney, there is the House of Mouse. :) Without the support of cartoons in China, they might not be encouraged to experience a foreign product.

Your'e talking about 5pm-8pm. Toon Disney and Disney Channel don't show mickey mouse cartoons at that time. So I really don't think this would be an issue

Disney is just as big over there -- but the parks are absolutely independent of tv --just like they are in the USA...half of the US doesn't get the Disney Channel -- yet they go to WDW on vacation, blissfully unaware such a thing even exists...what's on tv has nothing to do with going to a theme park

This seems to be in the same vein as Canada, trying to encourage home-grown entertainment.

By the way, how many kids in America have actually seen a Mickey Mouse cartoon? I know I never saw one as a kid in the late-80s/early 90s, yet Mickey is as much an American icon to me (and just about everyone else) as is George Washington and Coca-Cola.
