Will Disney honor discounts for rooms already booked?

Hi all,

We're looking into a trip for the first week of January 2019. I know that typically they offer a "10-25% off" code around the end of September for rooms booked in January-March.

My question is, if we were to lock in our resort in June, and then they release the deal in September, could we call them and still get the discount?

You can either call them or change it yourself, but it seems these types of promotions have a very limited set of rooms, and depending on the resort you're staying at, you may not see anything.

Have you thought about using a travel agency like Kingdom Consultants which are major sponsors of this forum? They will book your vacay and then monitor any discounts that are released. I have used them for years. I let them know I am AAA member, have a Disney Visa, and when I was going multiple times a year, an AP holder. I personally don’t like to stress over it.

That week is typically excluded from deals because of the guests staying from the Christmas to NYE period and that the WDW Marathon weekend is held on the first weekend of Jan.

As long as your particular week is not blacked out AND as long as there is still availability for the specific type of room you have booked, you will be able to apply the promotion.

For 2018 the discount dates were 1/1/18 - 4/14/18, and for 2017 the discount dates were 1/1/17-3/7/17 for the Play/Stay/Dine and 1/1/17 - 4/8/17 for the room discounts. So, it does appear that the first week in January could have discounts. Now, the number of rooms for the discount may be very limited...

Yep that's where I saw the info too. Here's to hoping they have it this year, too!

Make sure you are watching closely for the discounts because the rooms allotted for the promotion could fill before you attempt to have the discount applied to your existing reservation. It won't matter if your room category was originally included. Unfortunately, once it's filled, it's filled.

While working at Disney it was always a bummer to have to tell someone who was an Annual Passholder they could not retrofund the discount to them, even if six months before check in because the rooms had a virtual allotment. Annual Passholders and Military are two things that should have infinite options with that, but alas, still a large business with a large demand and the Walt Disney Travel Company aka Disney Destinations aka DRC purchases the rooms from the Resort side of the company.

As somebody said, as soon as you see discount come out be sure and call, they say they only release a certain amount, we did this last year at AOA suite and final costs was 279.00, we have also did this in previous years, they are usually very helpful...
