Everyone...

You guys were so right! I just got back from a few days at the WL and it was spectacular. I love it there and I want to go back. When we first made plans to go, I really couldn't imagine liking it, but it is, without a doubt, a favorite now! :sohappy:

I'm sooo glad you enjoyed yourself. Now you see why we keep going back. Every trip we look at other Resorts, but we always end up back at the WL. Did you eat at the Whispering Canyon? How was your room?

We need details!!!!! Any thoughts about a trip report?

wl questions

We're heading to WL in February. Do you have any recommendations for rooms to stay in? What color were the refillable mugs? I wanted to see if they changed them since our last visit. Since we have to buy 5 it's worth asking. What time does the ferry start in the morning? Do you remember what the different color flags meant on it? I need a refresher course!!!
Thank you.

I'm curious about all that as well. After going to the WL to eat breakfast at the Whispering Canyon cafe, we have decided that we are going to stay there during our December 2004 trip.

Never stayed there before, so any an all information posted will be greatly appreciated.

We had a courtyard view room. Our plans were kind of last minute so that was the room type available when we booked. I didn't realize at the time that it was such a nice view. We had a view of...well...the courtyard. I've heard some people say that the courtyard view can also include a view of the villas, but I don't know. We were room 3029.

The room was great. The view was great. The resort was great. I just can't say enough good things about it. I wish I'd been staying longer, but this was just a short little trip. I will definitely go back to WL at some point for a longer stay. Of that I am certain. I'd like to try out the villas. I've stayed at the Beach Club villas (1 bedroom) and LOVED it so I know I'd love it at the WL.

The transportation was great. I had no complaints. The boat came about every 10 minutes when I used it and the bus for MGM showed up like 2 minutes after I arrived at the bus stop so - what can I say?:)

We went down to the beach like so many of you suggested to see the Electric Water Pagent and that was perfect. We had a fantastic view of it - we just sat in some lounge chairs, relaxed and watched.

The whole place was just fantastic. We didn't have time to eat at Whispering Canyon, so that will be for next time. We did love the little snack shop though. It was wonderful.

Oh - and just one last thing about the trip. This isn't WL related, but we ate dinner at Coral Reef one night and Mickey was in the tank in scuba gear!!! Have any of you seen this? Our waiter said it was very rare. Everyone went crazy! What a moment!! :)

Thanks again for all your help and suggestions!! They really helped us make the most of WL.

Whenever we stayed at the WL we always asked for a woods view...rooms 6022-6032. Before the trees got too big you could see the castle. Its still a nice view of the bog & animal life...very quiet.
This past August we stayed in room 6158...a courtyard view of the Villas & small pool. VERY nice. It was a little farther to travel to the restaurants, etc , but not that bad.

The mugs have been the same colors since we first started staying there, though the style has changed...this past year the handles were made of thinner plastic (and have broken since). I won't get into reusing the old mugs...its been argued before. Do what you feel you must...no judgements from me. :)

I think (and don't hold me to this) the ferry service starts an hour before the parks open...we have transportation CMs here who could answer that. As far as the flag color I don't know...I thought each resort had their own color...I kind of just follow my DH when its comes to that sort of thing.

One thing I will say though...if you are planning on staying out very late ,take your own car if you have it. If you miss the last boat or bus....

I was watching the Vacation Planning DVD the other day and clicked on the Room Layout button for the WL. To my surprise, there were two different layouts - the standard room and what looked like a suite.

Everything I've seen in guidebooks and Disney marketing material says the WL only sleeps 4 to a room. But the suite piqued my curiousity: will it sleep 5? My wife and I love the theming of the WL and have heard a lot of good things about it. But with 3 kids, we didn't think it was a possibility.

Does anyone know if these rooms really exist at the WL and how many they sleep?

There are Jr. Suites...2 queen size beds in the bedroom & a sleeper sofa in the sitting room. The also have a few Full suites, but they run into big $$$.

Generation X - Have you thought of staying at the villas? They have studios, 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom suites. I haven't stayed at WL villas, but I've stayed at the Beach Club villas and they are SO nice. I'm sure WL is just as great. The 1 and 2 bedroom villas come with a whirlpool tub too. Quite the thing for tired Disney feet!!

We stayed at the Lodge in Dec 02 and had an amazing time. I love it there. The theming in general is great but to add Christmas on top of it all just puts it right over the edge.

We stayed on the 6th floor and looked out towards the contemportary hotel and Magic Kingdom. It was a great view, we could see the fireworks every night. But, one thing that we didn't read about beforehand was that we could HEAR the fireworks. We could also hear the Electric Water Pagent (I think that's the right name). I'm not complaining because most nights we were either enjoying the fireworks or the music, but there were a couple nights when we went to bed early and were woken up by one or the other. If you're a light sleeper or have light sleeping little ones, it may be something to consider.
