Wilderness Lodge Villas to TTC

Hi everyone, I will be heading to Disney in just 3 days! We are taking another family with us and staying in the Wilderness Lodge Villas. They have a 4 year old daughter, and it is her first visit to Disney World, and as such, I am trying to help incorporate some of the small yet nostalgic things I remember most when I was a kid. One of the things I always loved about arriving at Disney World was getting on the monorail leading up to visiting MK/EP, that always felt like an awesome way to start the trip.

Since we are staying at WL, there isn't a need or a purpose to get on the monorail for most of our trip (outside of just riding it for fun). We are trying to plan only 1/2 days at the parks in order to not burn the kids out, and while this may leave time to get on the monorail just for fun, I thought I would try to incorporate it into a day we were visiting a park anyway to make the most effective use of the monorail trip. I was thinking that on our first day when we go to Epcot that we could take the monorail, it always felt like such a cool entrance to be taken through part of Epcot before you actually walk into the park. I read that there is no longer a bus from WL to TTC, does anyone have suggestions for the best way to get the monorail to Epcot? I was thinking cab might be the most effective but we are 4 adults and 2 kids, so that might be more challenging. Thanks in advance for the suggestions!

The best free way would be taking the boat to MK, then get on either the express or resort monorail and then transfer to the Epcot monorail at the TTC.

The quickest way would be cab to the TTC.

Another alternative is boat to Contemporary, monorail to TTC (it's the next stop). Transfer to Epcot line.
This ^^^ is best. Depending on time of day, you may not be able to board the express monorail at the MK to ride it to the TTC. The boat from WL to Contemporary is relaxing and then it is just one monorail stop to the TTC to transfer. On your reverse trip, ride the monorail back to the TTC and transfer either to the express or resort line and disembark at MK. You can then take the boat from MK to WL or take a direct bus...the bus is quicker than the boat and the stop is right outside the WL Villas, so it will save you some steps after a long day at Epcot. ;)

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. Any idea how long it would take to get a boat over to the contemporary? Do they run pretty frequently? I am not worried at all about the time to get the monorail from there to TTC, and I will likely bus from Epcot back to WL, but I was wondering if I would spend 30-45 minutes just waiting for and getting on/off the boat from WL to Contemporary.

This is a good plan, as the boats are a lot of fun themselves.

But even if you're going to MK, you can take the boat to Contemporary and just stay on the Resorts loop all the way to MK. It takes longer, as it has to make additional stops before it gets to the park, but if your object is to enjoy the monorail ride, longer is better anyway.

The boats from WL to Contemporary seem to run on about a 20-minute cycle, similar to the buses. The boat ride is about 15 minutes, so the total trip time would be:

Wait for boat: 0-20
Boarding: 5
Trip: 15:
Total: 20-40

It's worth the time, though, especially at night. Something about Bay Lake at night always appeals to me.

I'm a fan of Contemporary. I enjoy shopping in the Grand Canyon Concourse, eating in the food court (or Chef Mickey's, though I haven't been there for quite a while), and watching Wishes from either the 4th floor ob deck or the 15th floor ob deck outside of California Grill. So you can try the boat ride in the evening, especially if you have a dinner res at Chef Mickey's or CG.

agreed, take a cab to TTC or ferry to Contemp. One thing i have noticed from staying at the WL in the past, the buses for some reason do not come as frequently as other hotels. A lot of times i skipped the bus and took a cab. now i take Uber as its half the price of the cabs.
