Wilderness lodge villas question

Changed resorts from the poly to WL villas, got a one bdrm cause my mom wants to come along since we'll be celebrating our DS 1st b-day and 1st visit, so naturally she has to be there. How far is the main resort from the villas? She's a bit handicapped and I was wondering how the walk was to the restaurants, shops, etc. I was wondering if I should request a room closer to the main bulding??? This is our first stay in a villa and our time staying at WL so I am kinda a rookie to this resort.

It's not very far at all. There is a short covered walking path between the villas entrance and the side entrance/exit to the main lobby of the resort. Literally maybe a 2 minute walk if that.

It is not far...but to be safe ask for a room closest to the main lodge. If you are assigned a room at the other end of the WLV, it can add a bit of a hike to the trip.

Enjoy your trip - it's a great place to stay!!!

I've never been to WLV, but that's where we're hoping to stay in May 2014, so I've been cyber-stalking the WLV. ;) Call and have them put a note on your reservation requesting a room "close to the elevators" and specifically identify that there's a mobility issue. "Near the elevators" will put you close to the exit/main building/walkway/buses, and possibly into one of the coveted atrium rooms. If you go to check in and find that your room does not meet this description, explain the situation again and politely ask if there's any way you can be moved.

VWL is not a long walk from the room to main building, but beware, the covered walkway from main WL building to VWL is downhill slightly on the way to the room, and uphill on the way back.

It's not long for healthy people. It feels very long after a day in the parks, but it isn't bad, really.

I don't know how much trouble your mom has walking, though. It could be considered a long walk if it was hard for you and a pp is correct that it is slanted, so you're going up in one direction.

If she has a lot of trouble walking, you might consider requesting two rooms, near the elevators, on the regular floor. But even that can't be guaranteed.

Best of luck!
