Wilderness Lodge Transportation

We will be staying at Wilderness Lodge this spring. I was wondering how the transportation runs for WL.
I have heard that the buses also go to Ft. Wilderness. This is a change from the last time we stayed at the Poly (1999) and we shared a route with the WL and GF. Where do they stop first? Do they pick up at Ft. Wilderness first, or Wilderness Lodge first?
Same question for the boats to MK. What is the route for these? Just curious.
What's your opinion on the best route to take to Epcot and MGM?

Also, any tips on what standard view rooms are best?

Busses

When we stayed there the one thing I was very impressed with was the bus transportation. We've stayed in many different resorts and I think the best bus transporation was at Wilderness Lodge. I think they come quickly and even though Fort Wilderness was involved it never was a problem. My only concern is that they put the vacation villa's in since we've been there and I'm not sure how the busses are since they've been put in, that's the only thing that's stopping me from staying there again, I'm not sure how crowded everything has become!

I was just going to post a similar thread. Any info on bus specifics would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to convince my parents to stay at WL in early Dec. but they have heard stories about slow bus service and having to change busses at the TTC.

How do you get to MGM, Epcot and AK from WL? Is it a straight shot or do you have to sit through the other resorts?

We took a bus from WL to Epcot in early December and it picked us up at WL, then headed to Ft. Wilderness and then to Epcot.

The GF busses (we stayed at GF so we rode those much more) were shared with Poly and Contemporary. Those busses always went park, contemporary, poly, GF, etc.

I'm sure some of this varies depending on what season it is and how busy the resorts are.

I think some people choose to go through the TTC because they feel it saves time, but I'm not sure how it would. I suppose you could take the bus from WL to TTC and then take the monorail to Epcot or something like that. The busses don't stop at multiple parks, but they may (and many times do) stop at multiple resorts.

At night, if the parks are closed (like when we were there in Dec. and the parks close earlier), to get from resort to resort you need to change busses at DTD.

I think the whole thing with how the bus transportation depends on a few different factors:

1) what resort you're staying at
2) what time of year it is (busy vs. non-busy season)
3) where you are and where you are trying to get to
4) what time of day it is

We are DVC members at the Wilderness lodge and during our past trip this summer we took the boat from the dock directly to MK. The trip is quick and easy. There are 2 boats, one makes the trip directly and the other goes to Ft wilderness as well. These are also great at night since they are vey close to MK entrance and are quick. We also used them to pick up the Monorail at MK to go to Epcot. We just prefer it over the buses. ( It's more FUN!) We used the buses to The studios am AK. They stop at Ft Wilderness first and they off to the parks. They are usally not to crowded and are even better for the return because their bus stop at the parks is for the most park one of the ones right in front and a short trip back.
Any way you go the trasportation from this resort is pretty good...so enjoy!!!

:sohappy: Thanks for the info........sounds like the bus route is WL, then FtW, so we would be the first on the buses and get seats!?...and the first ones off after a long day at the park!? That would be wonderful. Last time down we stayed at POFQ and we were first on and first off (route w/POR) and it was great!
