There may be another thread dedicated to this but I haven't seen it so I apologize if I am duplicating.

I was wondering if you could provide and tips, tricks and secrets about the WL and V@WL that future guests could look for on a future trip. Also, if anyone has a detailed list of what sets off the servers in the Whispering Canyon Cafe, that would be great too!!

:sohappy:  :slurp:

There are many threads devoted to the WL & a search will bring them up...that being said, The WL is my favorite resort & we will be returning there in July. We love the atmosphere, the architecture, the restaurants...just about everything.
Not really sure just what it is specifically that you are looking for.
The CMs are great, its a very laid back kind of place. You will often see people sleeping of the leather sofas in the lobby.
The pool is alot of fun & my kids really love the slide. There is a more quiet pool located around back- in between the Villas and the WL. We have never had a problem with the transportation (though some people have issues with the buss system). We love to take the boat to the MK or the launch to the Contemporary and hit the monorail (or Chef Mickey's or Concourse Steakhouse).
There are quite a few hidden Mickeys in the WL, stop by the main desk and ask for the hint sheet. You can also take a tour that is offered, my kids really liked that.

We love the Whispering Canyon Cafe expecially for a big skillet breakfast. ALWAYS be sure to ask for ketchup and extra straws. :lookaroun
Oh, and don't forget to wear a tee shirt with the logo or a character from the competition. :D

edit: I did a search on the WL...here is the page with the results. Happy browsing.

All the info about this resort is scattered amongst pages upon pages of threads. I would like to see them in one thread so that they could be printed and taken on a future trip scheduled for this summer.

I will also serve as a guide to others looking for the same info and have it in one place as opposed to 1 piece of info in one thread.

Thanks!!!

Hi,
I stayed at WL back in March 2002 and loved it. This was my very first trip to WDW and lets just say I am now a huge WDW fan. I plan on staying off site this year but thought I'd share what we loved about WL.
My first tip is to take the time to enjoy the boat ride to MK. It is not bad at all especially mid-day. We had our 2 daughters ages 2 &3 at the time and they loved the ride. It is a good way to just relax and cool off. I think if you are spending lots of time at MK this resort is as valubale as the monorail resorts.
Take time to walk around the resort and enjoy the little details of the resort. There was even deer prints in the cement and crickets churping in order to make you feel worlds away. When our girls napped mid-day I video taped the resort and really enjoyed the change of pace from the hustle and bustle.
The food is good at both the Artist's Point and Whispering Canyon. Expensive but a good experience to treasure.
I think that is all I can say in words. This place is awesome and I don't think you will be disappointed if you like a relaxing atmosphere!
Have a great time!
Steph

One intersting thing you can do (or used to be able to do), was to ask the "Park Ranger" about helping to raise and lower the flags on the roof of the building. I stayed there back in '98 and they take the flags down at dust and put them back up each day in the early morning. At the time you could ask to assist and were allowed to go up on the roof with a CM (ranger) and "help" him/her. Not sure if they still do this, but it's worth asking.

Did you notice that the crickets chirping & bullfrogs croaking disappered at midnight only to return in the morning? ;)

Rooms 6022 thru 6032 are MK views. When we first stayed in 1996 you could watch the castle change colors at night and also see the fireworks from the balcony. What a way to fall asleep.
If you stay above the waterfalls always open the curtains & look outside in the morning. I know someone who heard the waterfall & thought it was raining. They wasted a whole morning sleeping. (and were really upset when they found out it was a beautiful sunny day.)
The laundry room is waay too small for the resort size.

Ask at the front desk when you check in about becoming a "Flag Family".
