Wilderness Lodge - Rooms Again!

I know this topic has been asked and answered many times, but I need to ask again for clarification because we're going next month.

We want a room that is quiet but either :has a nice view of something (we don't want pool noise) or has a view of MK - fireworks etc.

I have read that they have some balconies with all concrete? We DON'T want that.

Please advise what room numbers we should be asking for ?

Oh, we have two kids and asked for bunk bed room as well if that makes a difference.

Thanks

I'm no expert, but right off the bat I thought of Animal Kingdom Lodge. You can't get a much more peaceful and serene view out of your back porch than of the savanna.

Some rooms there definitely offer bunkbeds as well. I don't know if every resort does, but WL and AKL do.

The porch bannisters are also made of wood at both AK and WL.

I'm sure either place would be lovely.. I personally am considering WL for a near future trip without children, but the AKL might add something a bit extra if there are kids with you.

Hope this helps!

I second Dagger's response. We stay at AKL every year and it is the most peaceful, wonderful place to stay. We have had very little noise if you get a savannah view room and you can request a king bed with bunkbeds. I may be incorrect with this one, but I recall the balconies to be concrete there. I'm not currently aware of any balconies that aren't concrete, but I could be completely mistaken. I highly recommend this resort, though-you can't go wrong! I know the balcony floors are concrete, but the supports and such are nicely painted metal and wood.

From the OP's post it seems like they are staying at the WL ...

For an MK view ask for rooms in the ___022 thru ___032. The higher the floor the better the view. For awhile we could watch the fireworks from the fourth floor but the last time we didn't even see them on the sixth floor. Since then the hurricanes from the last few seasons have topped the trees and you can see the castle again. My kids loved watched the castle change colors in the evening before they fell asleep. That section overlooks the bog in the back with some interesting wildlife. ___032 is right around the corner from a elevator...the one that takes you down by the laundry rooma near the Roarin' Forks. Don't know if any of those rooms are available with bunkbeds, I have 2 girls and they always shared a queen when we stay there. The balconies are cement floors with openwork railings (metal dividers) unless you are on the 6th &&th floors then they are enclosed for saftey, you really have no choce there.

We also like to have a Courtyard view there that overlooks the Villas and the quiet pool. We have never been disturbed there...the room is 6158, but it is far from the elevators. If you want a patio then you need the first floor, but you get no view of the castle just pools and gardens.

We stayed at the WL during our stay in December last year. If I remember correctly the bunk beds are a request and not a guarantee, we had bunks though and the kids loved them.
We had a room that was very quite, it faced north toward the WL Villas and over looked the "quite" pool that was between the Lodge and the Villas. We had originally wanted a room that over looked the WL pool but decided that this room was better. BUT, if you do get a room over looking the Lodge pool I don't think noise will really be a problem as the building is far enough back and not right on top of the pool.
Also, there really isn't a great room to see the fireworks or the MK. The south arm of the Lodge (it's shaped roughly like a "V") does face the MK but the trees are so tall that views are somewhat blocked. You would be better off walking down to the dock to see the fireworks and the floating electrical pageant, (or as my wife loves to call it King Triton's Parade).
If a view of the MK is a priority then I think you would have a better chance for that at the Poly or the Contemporary. And the Grand if the $$$ permit.
Although it sounds like I'm very critical of the WL, this is my favorite hotel on property. It has so much to offer beyond those things that the stay there is just plain fun.

Most balconies on the ground floor of both Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge have concrete railings. Balconies on all upper floors are wood or steel railings. All balcony floors are concrete at all Disney Resorts.

Simply ask for a quiet area when you book your reservations, or as soon as possible if your reservation is already booked. Remember, requesting a quiet areas simply means requesting to be as far away as possible from all common areas of the resort including the lobby, pools, elevators, restaurants, etc. This makes no guarantee of the noise level from Guests staying in surrounding rooms.

None of the rooms at Wilderness Lodge offer great viewing of Magic Kingdom Fireworks, but a limited number of upper floor Woods View rooms offer an ok to good view. Simply requests a room with a Fireworks View, and the resort will do their best to honor it if possible. If you are booked in a Standard View, or Courtyard View room this request may not be able to be honored as few if any rooms in these categories have any view of the Magic Kingdom skyline.

Bunk beds are only offered in select room categories at both Wilderness and Animal Kingdom Lodges and are available on request for arrivals in 2006, they cannot be guaranteed.

For Guests arrivals on January 1st, 2007 and beyond, select bunk bedded rooms can be guaranteed as they will be booked as a separate room category at both Resorts.

Hope this helps! :sohappy:

Do remember, any request made in advance is simply that, a request not a guarantee. Although the Resort Front Desk and Room Assigners will do their best to honor as many requests as possible, it will always be based on what rooms are scheduled to be open and available in your room category on the date you are scheduled to arrive.

Individual room assignments are made by the Resort staff itself, not by the Reservation Center, we simply log and time stamp your request on the reservation when they are made.

Most room assignments and are done either early in the morning on your arrival date or the night before. Group or Grand Gathering room assignments are done about 2 or 3 days prior to arrival. Again these assignments will be based on what rooms are scheduled to be open and available on your arrival date, and this may change at any time prior to your arrival. For example, if the room that matches your requests suddenly experiences a plumbing problem you will not still be assigned that room, you will be re-assigned a room with working plumbing that may or may not match your request.

As long as a request was made on your reservation it will be considered, with the date stamp of the request used if needed. Multiple calls to the Reservation Center do not increase your chances, and any request made directly to the Resort prior to arrival will be ignored.

Also remember, some requests simply cannot be honored. At the Wilderness Lodge for example, a request for bunk beds, a smoking room, or for two connecting rooms cannot be honored if the Guests is booked in a Standard View Room, as there are none of the 48 standard rooms at Wilderness Lodge offer these three amemities.

Hope this helps! :sohappy:

Just wanted to say that I was playing around on the website with figuring out our pricing and there is now an option that says "Deluxe Bunk Bed Savannah View Room" which is a 0$ upgrade from the "Deluxe Savannah View Room" so it looks like they are trying to implement it unofficially ASAP.
