New here, so I hope I'm in the right place. I have been looking since sometime in January for any kind of room (I prefer a courtyard room) at the WL for the Sunday after Thanksgiving through Thursday and not one room is available. Is this unusual? I have booked Pop Century but would love to stay at WL. Any ideas. This will be my first trip ever to WDW. Thanks

It would have been unusual at one point not too long ago but, the time from Thanksgiving through early December is no longer a slow period and has become quite busy. WL also seems to have a significant following of guests who prefer that particular resort during the holidays.

Half of the Lodge has been converted to DVC, so fewer regular rooms are available.

I did a search for your dates and Copper Creek villas (the newly refurbished side of WL) has availability.
Thanks for looking. Are the villas within WL or are they adjacent to WL?

Copper Creek is within the main Wilderness Lodge building, with the exception of the cabins which are each freestanding units. One wing of what used to be Wilderness Lodge rooms was converted into Copper Creek Villas.
Boulder Ridge Villas are in a building (or 2 buildings, not sure) next to the main, original building.
So in other words, it's in many ways three properties in one- Wilderness Lodge, Copper Creek, Boulder Ridge.

Thanks so much for the info. It is my niece and myself. I just think I would feel safer staying in a resort like WL where the doors open to the hall and not to the outside and a room that would be close to the lobby. It appears that if nothing comes available for WL, Copper Creek is basically the same as WL

You're welcome!
It is (with the exception of the cabins), although the room decor is completely different. Boulder Ridge is very secure feeling too. It is very close to the main lodge. The rooms open to an interior hallway and the access path from the lodge is covered and well lit.

The DVC conversion has completely transformed WL to a spot that is tough to find rooms. I have never rented a DVC but it is a great resort and that might be worth looking into

We Love WL and would love to stay there again. Sadly, I'm sure it's much harder to book now that they took half the Lodge for DVC, but I'm wondering if the problem with the dates you're looking for is that your check in date, on Sunday, is the end (or part of) of a lot of people's reservations for the week of Thanksgiving. While it would make sense for them to be checking out on that Sunday (if they were there that week), thus freeing up a lot of rooms. But if enough of them are continuing their stay, it might be that some of your stay dates are available, just not the day you want to check in. In that case, the system would say that your dates aren't available because all of the days/nights aren't available.....if that makes sense....and may not actually be the case....just a thought.
I hope you are able to work it out to stay there and have a Wonderful time!!

Thanks. I have played around with it several different ways and some days are available but not all

Unfortunately it's totally booked up around there for studios for the week. Only 1 & 2 bedrooms, grand villas as well as cabins are available. It's a super tough week to book there for DVC.

It changes EVERYDAY, just keep looking, I guarantee you will find something if your diligent
Indeed, I was looking for a room a the poly for my vacation and while I was hoping for a cheap room, the pool/marina view popped up as available every few days, I finally bit the bullet after talking with the bride about changing our reservation.
