Wilderness Lodge Cabins

Fort Wilderness Cabins

I am planning a trip for this summer and was wondering if anyone could tell me what the Fort Wilderness cabins are like.

-What are the cabins like?

-Anyone have a floor plan?

-What about the transportation? I have heard its a problem for the Wilderness Lodge. Do the busses run from the cabins area to all the spots?

I appreciate any help/advice you can give me. I am setting this up for a group of 4 to 6 friends and the cabin seems most logical but I do not want to stay there if getting to and from the parks is going to be a hassle. Heck, thats one of the major reasons we stay inside the resort.

Do you mean the Fort Wilderness Cabins? If you want to find a floor plan, go to Disneyworld.com, all of the resorts floor plans can be found very easily there, with pictures.

yeah i screwed up :hammer:

Im basically just looking for first hand accounts of what they are like. I am mainly concerned about getting to and from the parks. If its a pain in the butt to get to the parks from a cabin, I will go with a moderate resort because at least there I know the transportation system is pretty good.

My dilemma is this. If I have just 4 of us going, then no problem, a moderate resort would be just fine. Crowded yes, but fine. If I have 6 going, then I need either something bigger or another room which will add a great amount of expense.

I LOVED staying in the Cabins! There were two tv's, and we filled the fridge with food. It was sooo nice to get back from the parks and be able to eat something, saved money too. However, you might want to rent a golf cart that they offer, cuz walking can be a pain, plus they are fun! I loved the cabins. Bus rides were a little long, but nothing too bad.

Well I have never stayed in the cabins but I can tell you a little bit about the campground. Transportation to the parks is about the same as anyother resort. You have the boat to the Magic Kingdom (as well as launches to other MK area resorts). There are two bus stops. One is near the entrance (this takes you to some of the parks) and the second bus stop is near the trail that takes you to the Wilderness Lodge (I think that bus stop services the Disney Studios). All buses for the For Wilderness also stop at the Wilderness Lodge (which is first depends on the route). At the Fort Wilderness you can rent boats, go fishing, take a hay ride, visit the petting zoo, rent bikes, and enjoy the many little "park" and garden areas of the resort. The resort is very big, and like wdwprincess03 said, it can be a long walk to get around the resort.

P.S. - Look for the lawn mower tree.
