Wilderness Lodge Bunk Bed size?

Are the bunk beds for very young children or would an 11 year old and a 13 year be comfortable? The 13 year old is about 5'1", 85 pounds.

Debating between 2 queens or 1 queen for us parents and the bunk beds for kids. Any first hand knowledge appreciated.

Should be ok in the bunk, just watch the ceiling when sitting up. :lookaroun


Edit: I just went to double check...good up to about 5'5", but there is a note that they no longer take requests for bunk bed rooms. Hmm....

If they're the same size as the bunks in the AKL, they'll be fine. I booked a room with bunk beds last year for my daughters who were 14 and 17 at the time. They had never slept in bunk beds and thought it would be fun.

The size of the beds was great and the girls were very comfortable.

That's because as of 2007 the bunk bed rooms are their own category. See here: http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/faq_wl.htm

It appears the bunk bed category is $20 more per night than 2 queens... but you are guararteed the bunk bed room, not just requesting it. Hope this helps.

They say ok up to about 5'5". They don't look very big and I know at 5'4" my kids bunks aren't very roomy for me.

Thanks for the replies on the bunk bed size. I have been trying to find the exact length and width of the beds - know I read it somewhere.

Think I will go for the bunk beds, even at the extra cost. My daughters are petite, and should be worth it so they don't kick each other all night.

Stayed at Wilderness a couple years ago, and even though the beds say Queen size, I seem to remember that they seemed smaller than the Queen bed I have at home.

If anyone can find the link to the bed sizes, would appreciate it.

This was 10 years ago, but my 5'10 (25) and 6'0 (16) brothers stayed in the bunk beds. Neither one had problems.
