Wigs at Raglan Road

I went to Raglan Road for the first time my last trip in Sept/Oct ‘17. I noticed most of the women dancers wore long wigs. The women who weren’t wearing wigs had hair well past their shoulders. Is long hair just some quirky appearance requirement, or is this some Irish mating custom to see the effect of hair bouncing as they dance?

The long curly wigs have long been part of the Irish step-dancing aesthetic. Even the little girls in local Irish dancing troupes here in NY wear them (or style their hair that way, if they have enough hair to do so.)

Thanks for the answer. I didn’t know if it was that or just a requirement at the restaurant. Personally, it wouldn’t bother me to see shorter hair, but now that I think about it, I never have seen a female Irish dancer with short hair. Thanks again.
