Why doesn't WDW put extinct rides in Disney Springs or Boardwalk?

I don't disagree with the warm and fuzzies of nostalgia. Walt wanted a place where families could go and spend a day together with their families. That no longer describes most visitors to WDW.

Those aren't families walking around the WDW parks and resorts? Wow, could have fooled me. Are they all rental kids? Or are the kids renting the adults? Made friends at the airports on the way in?

Sorry, but the vast majority of visitors to WDW are still families, and you've really lost me as to what you're thinking it is walking around and enjoying the parks together.

Going way back to the OP- what benefit would Disney get to put old, broken down, high maintenance rides at a place where no one has to pay for them? Spending loads of money and getting absolutely nothing in return? That makes absolutely no sense at all.

The sad truth is every attraction that is gone is gone for a reason. It may have been low ridership, outdated ride systems, high maintenance costs, high staffing costs for low throughput, or some combination of those. But that ride wasn't generating ridership and "income" for the park that they felt was worth the investment, so it was pulled and replaced.

So if Disney didn't feel that the ride was bringing in enough interest and income to make it worth spending the money to keep it in the park, why on earth would they put it somewhere they'd spend the money and get absolutely no return on it's investment at all.

I mean there are rides I miss, some I never got to experience that I wish I had, but there's nothing about this one that says it would have any reality to it at all. I may as well create them in Planet Coaster as that's a more realistic thing.

It is easy to spin a post to stir the pot. I don't do that. Disappointing.

There is a danger in people thinking that the nostalgia that they enjoy is anything other than fantasy, that it is anything more than a crafted story for entertainment purposes only. The misapprehension about nostalgia provides very dangerous cover for embracing aspects of what was before and thereby fosters reactionaryism. We cannot move forward as a dynamic society, and cannot retain the fantastic gains we've made with regard to so many aspects of life for so many people, if too many people are effectively caught up in reactionaryism.

It’s what wins elections these days!

The point is that things weren't better ("arguably" or otherwise). If you only look at "fragments of the actual truth" then you aren't seeing truth. For example, Heppenheimer mentioned above how Liberty Square is missing the morass of urine and poop that would reflect the actual truth of what is depicted. The full internalization of the actual truth would reveal that things weren't better, and that what we're appreciating is fantasy.

Who knew that the unedited version of Liberty Square is similar to the streets of San Francisco in 2019.............

They really don't keep old stuff around like many people think.

Once the Backtour closed at DHS the teams were almost immediately sold off.

As much as it would be cool to have a history of Disney museum, Disney simply just doesn't think that way and once something is no longer useful and generating REVENUE they get rid of it. There's not some big warehouse full of old Disney ride junk that I'm aware of.

It is strange how they don't do this. It would be a nice walk-through tour. Maybe charge $5. You could put it anywhere really. Boardwalk, etc. There would be lots of archives or exhibits you could see. People would love that. I know I would.
