Back during the quarantine of 2020 I checked out Apple TV out of boredom as well as curiosity and one show in particular has reignited an interest for space and the future.
I wish we had a show like this during the 2011-2014 time period! I was just an idealistic college student back then but such a show would have pushed me to go into engineering.
It seemed like before 2014 reality TV was all the rage. Society seemed more interested in the lives of the rich and famous as well as rural "hicks".
In 2013-2014 I became interested in space due to Neil Degrasse Tyson and "Mass Effect" but once I got to college I became obsessed with "Greek Life" and getting a cushy office job that would pay for a big suburban house, German made car, and nice vacations each year.
But since 2020 I became less materialistic and more concerned about the state of humanity.
What happened in the 2000s and early 2010s?
Why did society stop dreaming?
What would society look like today if we weren't so materialistic? What would society be like if we choose instead to work toward an amazing future?
EPCOT 's "Spaceship Earth" and "Mission Space" may have planted the seeds of a passion that was awoken with "For All Mankind".
