Why Did Disneyland Used to Close...

I was flipping through the Fall 1980 edition of 'Disney News' and there is a bulletin on page 16 that says "The park will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays except for special holidays, beginning Sept. 15."

Does anyone know why DL closed on these two days?

My guess would be that these were DL's 2 slowest days of the week. I never knew that there was a period of time when they weren't open 7 days a week:veryconfu

Ride maintinence, park upkeep, painting and such was the reason. Less scaffolding in those days I'd presume. With the desire to be a destination resort, it's not practical these days, I guess. KBF was closed 2 days a week in the off season as well-different days, though.
