Who is Von Ginger?

Spoilers ahead for this year’s Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay. Has anyone seen the new gingerbread house for this year? They keep mentioning a character named Von Ginger in the promotional materials? Does anyone know where this came from?

That's exactly what I was thinking.

Rolly Crump was at Happy Hour at the Tam O' Shanter in 1965 after an exhausting 7 hour day working on his Museum Of The Weird ideas for Walt's Haunted Mansion that would finally open in 1967 1969, and during his second Whiskey Sour he scribbled on a damp cocktail napkin some thing that in 2023's charmless culture looks like Von Ginger. But what Rolly was really doing was trying to pass along his phone number to the redheaded cocktail waitress, but it got lost in artistic translation.

Fast forward to 2023, and now some humorless WDI intern found the dried-out cocktail napkin with the artsy sketch of a redhead on it with the bizarre accompaniment of the 1965 phone number unknown information PLaza 5-4295.

And what we're actually left with almost 60 years later, is an Instagrammable Faux Viral Moment of a new Von Ginger character added to the Haunted Mansion ride at Disneyland.

Thanks, Rolly. You should have just asked the girl for her number like a normal guy, instead of doing cocktail napkin art.

Von can also mean 'of' as in "made of", so I agree, I think its just a new character with a name that is a a clever play on words related to the Gingerbread House.
