How long should I plan for it to get from Magic Kingdom (mid September, very low crowds) to Whispering Canyon at Fort Wilderness? It will be on a Sunday night at park close...which will be 7:00 because of a Halloween party. I am not sure how long lines are for the boats, never used them. ALso to the boats go directly to resorts that have boat service or do they stop at each resort along the way? thanks

Whispering Canyon is at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, not Ft Wilderness.

They also run buses from MK to WL as well as the boat, so check for a bus too - it is only a 5-minute bus ride. They do this to handle wheelchairs and ECVs that cannot easily get on the boats.

We took the boat there from The Contemporary one evening last August for dinner here. Beautiful ride.
We took the boat back after dinner. Gnats. Gnats. Gnats.

That picture is quite accurate if you are there the day they hatch. During one such trip, they were so thick on the light poles around the dock that you could scrape them off like they were cake frosting.

We just scraped them off ourselves (and the seats on the boat before we sat down).
The CM piloting the boat must have had an entire can of OFF on him. Nothing touched him.
The bats were flying around the light poles.

Lesson learned - boat there & bus home.
