Whispering Canyon Cafe

Thoughts on this restaurant? We've never eaten here before so I chose it after a unsuccessful attempt at getting O'hana for dinner! It was the only ADR I had trouble securing! My thoughts were that it would be fun to take the boat ride over to WL and back to MK for Wishes and EMH. Plus, we will be down during the holidays and I've heard the WL decorations are a sight to see!

The wilderness lodge in itself is a sight to see. The lobby is breathtaking. As for whispering canyon we enjoyed it. It's a fun atmosphere, little loud and wild but a good time. It's a nice resort to hang out for a bit.

WL is awesome to see during the holidays. We like their decorations the best of any resort during that time, especially their huge lobby tree. Whispering Canyon can be loud, but also very fun. Food in my opinion is very good, but nothing exceptional. Still worth going to for the atmosphere.

We first ate dinner at WCC on our trip last July, and ate there again this past Saturday on our week-long trip.
Last year we all had the Skillet. You choose from as many as six proteins plus sides...family style BBQ thing. You can get all six proteins, just one, three, or whatever. We all had the Skillet last year (all six proteins :p ;)). It's not the best we've ever had by any stretch (the ribs were really tough this year, BTW), but it's good enough and the atmosphere and fun that goes on there is great! :) Don't forget to ask for the ketchup...! ;)
I think it's a one-and-done for a lot of folks, though.
This year I veered away from the Skillet and tried the Buffalo Meatloaf. It was really good!
'Ohana is definitely better IMO, but WCC is a fun place to eat dinner, if maybe only once. :)

Love Whispering Canyon Cafe. Make sure to go there hungry. Get the skillet...lots of great choices to sample off of it. And for desert we actually tracked down the apple pie recipe that they use because we liked it so much. You will have a really good time there. and Yes the Lodge itself is unbelievable to see in person. Another good choice sould be Boma at AK Lodge. Served buffet style with lots of great selections.

Thanks for the info. We like to try at least one new place each visit so we will at least be able to say we tried it! We were able to get O'hana on our last night. It's my favorite!

With kids I think it's great, as adults only I'd rather skip it. Now Ohana is a "YES PLEASE!" with or without the little ones!

The Wilderness Lodge is a breathtaking resort. The lobby is absolutely stunning. The Whispering Canyon cafe is located to the left when you enter the lobby from the main resort entrance. The atmosphere in this restaurant is fabulous. This restaurant's food is stunning. It is delicious and fulfilling. Compared to Ohana at the Polynesian I would definitely choose the Whispering Canyon

Worth trying once, and the holiday season is a good time to do so. Food is good, not great. Antics are cute. Would we return after having dinner there once? Maybe, but just to try the breakfast skillet, not for another dinner.

We need time for things to happen.
Pretty good Food
Fun, very unique atmosphere.
It's not Ohana but a good time none the less.

This September we're going back for our first time in about 5 years.

Building is awesome. Food is good to very good and plentiful. Fun, loud irreverent atmosphere. Bar on site, "Territory Lounge" , is a winner with many specialties, roomy and good bar help.

We weren't really "wowed" by the food or service last time. We were seated right by the kitchen away from the main dining area and didn't witness any fun. But we are giving it a second chance this year!

Go for breakfast or dinner things are quieter at lunch time. As others have said go just to check out the resort itself the lobby is great. The food is okay but the server/cast members make the meal.

I really enjoy it, and any excuse to come to the Wilderness Lodge is good enough for me. If the "fun" aspect of the restaurant is a consideration you may want to request being seated in the library instead of the main dining area. It is much more low-key and overlooks part of the back half of the lobby where it is much quieter and the servers tend to play a little less.

We had the same issue with our seats. We were along the back wall and really missed out on a lot of what was going on. We did get to see the stick pony parade, though.
