Whispering Canyon Cafe

We will be at WDW over Tanksgiving this year. I've been trying to decied where to eat on Thanksgiving day nad was thinking of trying the Whispering Canyon Cafe since I have heard so many good things about it. I have a couple of questions.

1. We generally prefer to eat our large meals at lunch rather than dinner. Is the staff interaction as good at lunch as it is at dinner? Also, is whatever it is they do fun for kids who will be almost 4 and almost 6?

2. Does anyone know if the resort restuarants raise their prices for holidays like the ones in the parks do? LAst year the GArden Grill was about $5 per person more than normal on Thanksgiving day. This added up very quickly with our group and I was irked that I had not been told about his when I made the PS since I was told that day that they always raise the price on Holidays and have for years.

3. Whta else would people recommend that is on sight?

Whispering Canyon Café is one of my favorite places to eat. Not only is it one of the most beautiful resorts, but it has an incredible atmosphere and really good food. Lunch and Dinner are the same, if I remember correctly. The best part about this place is that certain things are all you can eat. I always get the sampler and I know that it's unlimited amount of food, and it's really tasty:slurp: . I would definitely call WAY in advance to ask questions, and then more frequently as the day you go approaches just to make sure everything is still available and the way you are expecting it. If you don't eat there for Thanksgiving, definitely eat there on one of your other days.

We'll also be there for Thanksgiving - it'll be our first year not being at home for the turkey thing.

I was seriously thinking about making reservations at Chef Mickey's for T'giving dinner - for whatever reason my MIL wants to stay in our hotel that night (Contemporary) - and we're really not California Grill people.;)

On another thread someone commented on Whispering Canyon and it does sound like someplace we'd like to try - does anyone know if we can take a boat from the Contemporary to WC? And if so, any idea on the timeframe involved in doing so?

You can take the boat from MK to the Wilderness if that's what you mean. You might be better off taking the bus, but the boat trip is really pleasant if you don't mind a longer ride.

I believe there are boats from both MK and Contemp. to WC. Bus transportation to and from WC is unreliable in my experience, but others say it's ok.

The Whispering Canyon is great - when we stayed at WL 2 months ago, we made a point to try it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Believe me, they are just as rowdy at 9AM as they are at 6PM. It's great fun for the family. Just be sure to ask for crayons or ketchup!

I will also be there for Thanksgiving. I actually ate at the Whispering Canyon in May for dinner. I would actually recommend this restaurant to any family with kids. They interact with the kids alot. When I went the kids were running around passing ketchup around to other tables and they made everyone stand up and do the Hoky Poky (??). It was great, your kids will enjoy it. And the food was great too; we had the all-you-can eat.:slurp:

And be sure to wear a shirt from another theme park... It is necessary to receive the ten percent discount.....it is also the responsibility of one of the children to ask the wait person if he or she is a slacker....Elbows must be placed on the table when ordering.... Plenty of fun........
Too bad they stopped the "nicknames".... The wait persons used to have them.....my favorite..... Barbie Que, Chuck Wagon, and Ivana Diamond.

darn it!! i wish i had known about the shirt from another theme park thing! i could've bought one at Holiday World in Santa Claus, IN a few weeks ago! *sigh* oh well.

um, so what happens when someone asks the waiter if they're a slacker?

btw, if anyone wants a quiet meal at Whispering Canyon, eat breakfast there at about 6 or 7am! when my family and i ate there at that time, there were like 2 or 3 other families there...that's it! it was very peaceful! but i guess half the fun for most people is all the rowdiness and noise! personally, i like it when they let the kids ride around on stick horses and make everyone else 'laso' their napkins in the air! i've always thought that was really cute! and i've alway's loved how they ring the triangle and call everyone to dinner! that place is so great for entertaining meals!
