Which would you pick?

Ok, we bought AP's on our most recent trip. Now we are trying to decide when our return trips should be. This trip will be just me, husband and two daughters (8 & 4). Our 8 yr old will miss a week of school (3rd grade) but this shouldn't be a problem.

I was looking at the following times, but we haven't gone during these times before, so we are looking for these qualities...light rain (can handle the daily 1 hour shower, but don't want all day rains) & lighter crowds than June~

Options are
First Week of Feb. (this would be our daughters B-day)
3rd or 4th Weeks of Jan
1st or 2nd weeks of March.

There is always late May/Early June but we were thinking of squeezing in a trip in one of the above times. Thanks for all your help!

I'd go with February. Mainly because it's your daughter's birthday and having spent several of my birthdays and one of my wife's at WDW I can tell you from experience that there is nothing more special or memorable than a birthday at WDW. Plus it won't be as cold as January so if you get wet on Splash or Kali it won't be as uncomfortable!

It can actually be quite chilly at times during the end of Jan and early Feb. I'd pick Feb just because it's a great b-day gift, but in reality your best chance for decent weather would be the March dates.

Of course with FL it's hit and miss anyhow. I've been there in both Jan and Feb when the weather was great and also when it was 50 and drizzly the whole time.

Hehe like many things, it all depends on where you come from.

This reminds me of the food price discussions - the prices of counter service food at WDW seem high to some, and quite reasonable to others. If you are from parts of the south, $6-7 for a burger and fries is a lot; if you are from the North East like myself that's pretty reasonable. In fact, it's quite funny when I hear people mention the price of McDonalds at DTD - the menu has the EXACT same prices as my local McD's.

50 in January sounds like a heck of a lot of fun to me - that's actually my prefered temp, especially if it's sunny. Sure, you wait until it's time to go to do the water rides (though I usually can't resist Splash no matter how cold it is!), but other than that I find touring at cooler times great - just bring a sweater/sweatshirt.

Now, to people who are used to warmer climates, who will feel like they need mittens, gloves, and ski parkas at those temps, LOL, will have a different experience. Personally, I'd rather go to WDW in a ski suit when there are no lines as opposed to standing in the hot sun for 45-60 minutes every time I wanted to take a 3 minute ride, but that's just me.

Agreed on most points (since I'm from MI and it get's a bit cold here too), but when it's 50 and drizzly that's just down-right annoying.

I had my son with me who was one and a half y/old and he spent the whole time zipped up inside my jacket with his head poking out the top. Then someone stole our camera...hmm...maybe that's why I was so down about it. I didn't mind losing the camera it was cheap; just send me the film that was in it (whomever stole it!).

I would go with Feb....no crowds....and that makes for a really enjoyable trip...sure its a bit cold sometimes (especially with the wind chill...if there's wind)....but nothing that a good ole sweeter won't fix....

Though I'm use to warm weather...and it can get real cold up in Orlando (by Florida standards)...I love Disney in the winter as opposed to the summer....because its easier to stay warm, than it is to keep cool....

You can't go wrong with late Jan, early Feb.....just my opinion though.... :wave:

After a few days break from day after day of storms, they returned last night and tonight.

There was a good deal of wind damage (stuff blown around) at Music from last night.

Well, if that's the rainy season, we can handle it. We actually looked forward to the rains, and by the 3rd day my DH had figured that sometime between 530-7pm the rains would arrive, fast and furious, but briefly. It was amazing how many people actually fled the parks then. It was nice, cooled things off and the lines seemed much shorter.
