I have been to the christmas party but not the halloween party (which we plan to go to this year) The majority of my group(teens and adults) didn't like it. For the price we didn't get our moneys worth. We are not very big on parades so we skipped the special christmas parade and went on the rides. We also skipped the photos being taken because of the extremly long lines ( they were longer then the rides). But if you have little kids in your group i would say go for it, it's a nice experience.

Since I've never been to MNSSHP, I won't vote. But I will say that we (me, wife, and 4-year old) LOVED the Christmas party.
All_Good_Chic said that the photo lines are long. That's true. We waited a couple hours, and we sailed right through the line.
The most popular rides are open with little or no wait [depending on how many people are in the parks. See other threads about this].

christmas party
I have only been to the christmas party. I would do it again. The shows were great and the special fireworks show that surrronds you is by far the best I have seen.
You also get all the other christmas activites in the parks. The candlelight show at epcot was very moving.
the special mgm osborne light show was great also
not to mention all the decorations
well anyhow.... anytime is a good time to go to disney

Christmas is a time full of things to do and see in the parks... specially in Epcot with the Storytellers, the three lighting ceremony and the Candlelight Processional... then the Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights at the Studios, not to mention the special Christmas beautiful decorations in all the property and parks.
I would choose MNSSHP just because at that time of the year, there is not really much else going on. I attended it once, and had a lot of fun and a lot of Nestle chocolates! :slurp: We got our free pic and there was a parade, and it was just a cool night. I haven´t been to the MVMCP so I can´t really vote, but that would be my reasonning to choose one or the other.
