Which Tour?

For quite awhile now DH and I have been discussing taking one of the many tours offered on property. We always look at the details of each and come out saying we have to do one on our next trip somehow (but never have). Part of the reason for this is DS6 and the fact that the two tours we really want to do require you to be 16.

For this next trip I we are wanting to switch things up a bit from our "normal routines." We are going to try to fit in some new dining experiences as well as a few shows etc. that we have skipped in the past. As part of our "change the routine" trip I want to finally get in a tour (and get DS6 into one of the sitters) but now I'm stuck at deciding which one.

Without giving much more detail as to the "why" (simply because I want to see suggestions without them being skewed lol) the two tours I am considering are Keys to the Kingdom and Undiscovered Future World. Of those two, which would you chose and why?

Keys to the Kingdom is an awesome tour...10% off with your Disney visa, lunch included.

1 hour inside the utilidor, two attractions... and hopefully you'll get Rae.. she's wicked

We did UNDiscovered Future World. It started kind of slow but we really enjoyed it.
You get into a reserved area for Illuminations the night you take the tour.

Ahhh... a plus for sure (and one I was not aware of). Out of curiosity... I've heard a few folks say you get to take a trip up to the old ImageWorks on that one... true?

I'll do any tour that gets me into the WOL pavillion... I got as close as the ropes would let me at night and I could see all the lights on, things hanging from the ceiling. Why can't they just open that up!

Since you are already a big Disney fan with knowledge of the parks and Disney history, I'm going to vote for UFW. KTTK is fine and probably fantastic for people who aren't huge Disney geeks. I took it many years after my fascination with Disney began and, honestly, it was a bit of a disappointment. I didn't learn much, if anything.

UFW, OTOH, had new info for me. I really enjoyed that one.

They always ask people not to post too much about tours online and I respect that. But overall opinions and vague details...I see no reason we can't share that stuff.

That is fantastic feedback! A while back someone once shared with me something they were told on the KTTK tour and I proved to them that unfortunately the CM was BSing them... so maybe that's even more reason. :D Not to say that wouldn't happen on UFW though. LOL!!

ImageWorks... No. But I think it might depend on your tour guide. The more I think about it the more I remember. We saw so much. The WDW website says over 3 hours and it was. I think we went over 4.

Ok that's in line with what others told me (some guides take you up there, some don't). If it's the one we go with I'd definitey be willing to bribe ours. LOL!

I too have been considering doing KTTK. I have heard so much positive things about it so thanks for starting this thread.

Does anyone have the link on the Disney site for Undiscovered Future World? I've never heard of it before. I'm assuming it's at Epcot based on its name lol

We decided on the UNDiscovered Future World tour because we had already been on the Backstage Magic tour and seen the Utilidors. KTTK is one I'm considering for our next trip or the Wild Africa Trek.

I have to respectfully disagree about KTTK not being for huge disney geeks. I am a huge disney geek, an alumni of 2 cp's, and I was shocked at how much I learned. The little messages of the businesses on the windows of main street, the true story behind HM, etc.

I loved KTTK and would definitely do it again!

My guess is that the OP already knows about the Window stuff at MK. I know I did before I took the tour.

She has likely read all about the different Imagineers and their different storylines and everything that went into the HM. I know I knew much, much more about HM than was told on the tour. Heck, if all you had read on that subject was the Disney HM book, you'd know more.

I think that KTTK is a good tour. It would be very informative for many people. I just don't think our OP will learn a lot. I know I heard more new, interesting stuff during UFW.

I could be wrong, though. And NO tour is really bad. :)

A tour guide can make or break a tour. We've had two tours with spectacular tour guides. Back Stage Magic and UFW. They were great! We decided to quick take the Mickey's Magical Milestones tour because they had announced they were canceling good tour, boring tour guide. Around the World at EPCOT Segway tour, again fun tour but I wouldn't know who our tour guide had been the next day.
