Hello, we will be in wdw next week with our 3 yr old. We have a small umbrella stroller that doesn't have a canopy, just a basic one. Can you please suggest something that is easy to carry in the flight and in the wdw parks. Since our toddler is going to be in the stroller most of the time, we want to buy a comfy one but keep it below 100 bucks. Can we rent a stroller outside of the park bcoz I heard the strollers in wdw are not that comfy for longer stays?

Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks in advance.

While I hate the overpopulation of strollers, we rented the WDW park stroller each morning from the park we were visiting when our kids were young. Not cheap, but clean and had a good awning. Also no fuss-no muss each AM and PM as we didn't have to carry a stroller with us in to or out of the parks. Usually just a single but there were a few years where we had the double. Kids never complained about comfort and even fell asleep in the strollers if they were tired (I know their parents were)! We tried to navigate slowly and were respectful of others ahead of us. We didn't race around, and I wish all strollers and parks had a speed limit. Looking at some of the older photos and there isn't a stroller to be seen. Kinda makes me long for the old days. Kids seemed to navigate the park then without strollers just as well as kids with strollers do today.

Its hard to say what would work for you. The park strollers are hard and expensive. There are good offsite places that rent them. A cheap umbrella stroller would only be good for the airport. I think you would get sick of it quickly in the park because it won't be practical for your 3yo. No shade, no lying down, impossible to nap in.

I've been researching different umbrella strollers and so far I've been impressed with the Maclaren Triumph and Quest models. They are priced a little more than $100 but renting one would be more than that anyway.

If you're up for renting, we've rented the City Mini (double version, but the single is great as well) from Magic Strollers. We've found their prices to be the lowest and their service is top notch and super easy. You just pick it up at Bell Services and drop it off before 2pm on your last rental day. The strollers are also very comfy for the child and super easy to push for the parents.

Apple scooters has free stroller rental right now as long as you pay the $5 insurance fee per day. I got a stroller for 6 days for 31.95 including tax and they will deliver and pick up from my hotel.

It is more then 100 but we have a Chicco lightway it has been to disney twice. It has a large sun shade, reclines fully for naps but folds up completely just like the small umbrella strollers easy to transport on the wdw bus system.

Oh sorry the stroller I get from apple scoters is a mclarean city mini and it folds easily with one hand. Double stroller is the same price as a single.

I also have a Chico that I use at home that is great you could get one for under 100 at a baby consignment store.

Babies r Us are having a "Great Trade-In" event, so you could possibly trade in your umbrella stroller toward a new one. Also,I tested a new Chicco stroller at Target: the Echo, which comes in several vibrant colors, and is currently $99. It has taller handles, reclines to an almost flat position, lightweight, easy to handle, and folds up very nicely. I am seriously considering buying this stroller!

Please be sure to look at kingdom strollers, they were awesome. They deliver the stroller to your resort and pick it up on your way out. This way you have the stroller from park to park and don't have to turn it in before you leave each park, that goes a long way after a hot day. Plus they are clean and come with a rain hood if requested. It was a good experience for us, I don't recall the price but it was reasonable.

It is nice to have one either yours or a rental, that you can have at the resort. Getting to and from the bus stop it is nice to have the stoller. Also is nice to have a stroller at the airport. You can gate check it so you have it to use until you board. If you stay under 100 buying one you can figure you would spend at least that if you rent one.
Have a Great time..

I can attest to the quality of MacLaren strollers. After our first trip with our giant stroller. We did not return from WDW with it. We ordered a MacLaren Techno XLR and it was at our house when we got back. I would look into the MacLaren options if it is in your range.

Welcome! Good thread I wish I could help but my little guy was a natural born commando so the umbrella was more than enough at that age!

Go to Babies r Us and you can purchase an Umbrella stroller with a canapoy for about $25. We have 2 and used them recently for for our 3 1/2 and 4 yr old GD's and the worked out very fine.

Did you look in the WDW with Kids forum yet? There are multiple threads with this same subject. Here is my advice taken from one of those threads:

(http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3994452)...a Baby Trend Trendsport. It was much smaller than the travel system, but had the sun shade, tray, reclining seat, basket and was super durable. It actually became our primary stroller and lasted through 2 kids and multiple trips to WDW and everywhere else.

We rented from Magic Strollers on two occasions. They are great. They deliver it to your resort. On your last day, leave it at the bell desk and it will be picked up. We found it much easier than bringing one on the plane.

You may be aware of this already, but you can push the stroller(and kid if you want) all the way right up to the gate at the airport. They will just check it there, no matter the size.
