Which Resorts Are Really Disney?

I read on another post that the Swan and Dolphin are not Disney Resorts..I have heard that Coronado is not one, that's why it's so big and is able to be used for conferences..This is just a curiosity thing, but which ones are not owned by Disney and who are they owned by? It doesn't matter to me, the standards of quality is still the same at everyone that I have stayed at (including Coronado)

Swan and Dolphin are both Starwood properties.

Shades of Green is operated by the DoD

That's it for resort's that can be mistaken for Disney owned units.

The ones on-property by DTD are also not Disney but are on Disney property - like the Hilton and Doubletree, but I don't think your question pertained to them.

Coronado is owned by Disney. It is so big because it was designed that way. From inception it was designed as a convention hosting resort.

I stayed at Dolphin and it was still felt "really Disney". Though the theme is not very Disney-esque, you're right in the heart of WDW and you're surrounded by all kinds of entertainment locations and such. (:

Phonedave is right on the money as usual. To add a little more detail the hotels on hotel plaza blvd are not Disney owned but like he said their names (Hilton, Holiday inn, etc) are a bid red flag that they are not Disney owned. The difference that you will see in the non Disney hotels are in the Disney resort perks that they offer. In the case of the ones on Hotel Plaza Blved none of them save for the hilton offer any and Hilton only offers EMH. S&D offer transportation and EMH but things like room charging, DDP, etc are not available.

Swan and Dolphin may not be Disney but they are beautiful hotels and have great restaurants many of which take the Tables in Wonderland discounts.

We drove through the entrance at Swan one year on our way to AKL (It may have been Coronado) at the time we thought that was "the best" one to stay at..I wasn't that impressed with entrance..that being said I am sure that whether Disney owns or not, you will still get wonderful service..just one of those ..hmmmmm questions...

As for restaurants the only ones I know of are
Rainforest, T-Rex and Yak and Yeti..that's owned by Landry's, they are based out of Houston so we are real familiar with them..I bet Cat Cora's restaurant isn't actually owned by Disney either..another interesting hmmmmmm question..lol

You are right about he Landry Group and what they own.

Off the top of my head.

Tutto Italia is owned by Patina Restaruant group

Teppan Edo and Tyoko Dining are Mitsokushi (or however you spell it)

San Angel Inn is not Disney but I forget who owns it.

Kouzzina by Cat Cora IS a Disney owned unit - I assume Cat gets some sort of say in the menu and a payment of some type.

I am sure there are more, they just slip my mind at this moment.

You have hit a good number of them. To add to that list would be all of the restaurants inside of the S&D resort as well as many of the eateries in DTD. About the only places that come to mind that are Disney owned at DTD are Captain Jacks, the candy cauldron, Goofey's candy store and some of the small QS kiosks.

San Angel Inn is owned by Palmas Services. They also own Hacienda and Cantina as well as all of the eateries at Coronado Springs. I know that Marrakesh and Tangerience Cafe are not owned by Disney and I also believe that Le Chefs de France and Bistro de Paris are owned by outsiders.

Outside of Epcot, Boardwalk has Big River and ESPN as outsiders. Then as Richard said, you have most of Downtown Disney which is handled by vendors.

I have stayed at the Swan ,nice hotel...but...to me it was just another hotel! I didn't feel the same as staying in a Disney Hotel...something...was missing....it is on Disney property but it just wasn't the same to me!

CSR is a WDW resort but the restaurants are operated by Palmas Services, the same company that operates San Angel Inn and the new La Hacienda restaurant at Epcot.

I thought they were as well, but I am not sure.

I know the restarunat and menu were planned by Paul Bocuse, Gaston Lenotre, and Roger Verge - but I don't know if it is like Cat Cora's place where Disney owns it and she is just a consulatant, or if it is something different.
