Next summer we hope to visit family in south florida, but on the there (or back) we want to take my brother-in-law for the first time in his life to WDW,since having a kidney transplant he's able to travel outside of Ohio and our 81 year old spunky grandmother. Deciding which theme park was easy, but we (I,since i'm putting everything together) need some info from former guests which resort is better to stay at,(We NEVER stayed on disney property overnight)Of the 3 which one would fit our needs, I narrowed in down to the ALL STAR MOVIES,ALL STAR MUSIC, or The POP CENTURY? We like the idea of entering a park an hour early (on certian days) and being bussed to and from the parks and downtown disney. Any and all info on the resort, tips while there, and everything we would need to know would be,and is greatly and very much appricated in this matter,I will post my answer in a future post,Again THANK YOU & GOD BLESS.:)

I would recommend Pop Century for the following reasons:

1) It is the newest of the Value Resorts, opening last December.
2) It's laid out better so more buildings are closer to Classic Hall, the building where you check-in and has the food court/gift shop and bus stops
3) Its bus system is not shared by other resorts unlike at the All-Star Resorts
4) It's more centrally located on the Walt Disney World property so less travel time to certain parks than the All-Stars (which is towards the lower left of the property near Animal Kingdom)

I agree the the Pop Century is the newest and closest to the parks...but it is very big and if you don't have a car, you have a long walk to the bus terminal and Food Court.

I would recommend the All Star Movies. It is the smallest All Star Resort!

Whichever resort you choose, I would mention the recent surgery and your 81year old grandmother. They may be able to give you one of the buildings closer to the main court that way you don't have a far walk. They can't guarantee anything, but for the most part they do honor requests.

You might want to go ahead and pay for a preferred room ($10 more per night), which guarantees you a close building to the commercial building, main pool, and bus stops.

I would go with either Pop or Movies.

Pop has 2,880 rooms, but has the capability to handle it to a degree.

All 3 All-Stars have 1,920 rooms, but Movies is a little more compact than Sports and much more compact than Music. I say no Music because it stretches long. Movies stretches wide, with the only buildings being stacked behind others are the Love Bug and Mighty Duck sections, both maybe a 5 minute walk to the main building. It's an nearly the same time from Mighty Ducks to Movies as it is if you go to Music for the buses.

Movies is very Disney themed compared to Pop Century and even more so to Music.

As someone who as stayed at all 3, I would have to recommend All Star Movies if you have never stayed there before.

I have stayed there 4 times. I only spent 1 night at Pop Century on my last vacation, and I liked it alot. In fact, I chose to stay there in February as well.

The rooms at Pop Century are slightly nicer. Beds are nicer. Bigger TV.

Food court is nicer. Bigger too.

So, why do I say All Star Movies? Well, if you've never stayed there, it's great. It's great after a few times as well. I just wanted a change of pace myself. The theming is much more Disney inspired than Pop Century.

The bus service at All Stars is excellent. The bus service at Pop Century seems a bit slow.

It's a tough decision. I've changed my reservations twice now from All Stars to Pop Century. Whichever one you chose, you really can't go wrong.

I would go with Pop Century as well. Just stayed there last week and thought it was better than any of the All Stars. I agree with the earlier post about paying more for a preferred room. That way there will be the least amount of walking possible on your trip. Have fun! :D

I also recommend Pop Century over the All-Star resorts. I stayed there in May of this year and the bus system alone is what makes me like this resort more than the others. We stayed at AS sports in Aug 03 and we shared our buses with the 2 other resorts which made the buses extremely crowded at all times of the day. With Pop Century we had our own buses and didn't have to stop at the other resorts on the way to our destinations. Have fun planning your trip!

Keep in mind that I have not stayed at Pop Centuries, but I would say Movies, for many of the same reasons already listed. It is the smallest of the Value Resorts and the Disney Theming is excellent. Even the farthest room from the buses and food court are nothing compared to some of the other resorts.

Have'nt stayed at PC but would'nt mind from what i've read on these boards. I would highly recommend Movies. Only stayed there once but I found it to be a great resort. Excellent layout, especially if you walk around and take it all in. Great resort for picture taking. Food court was huge and had lot's of options.

I'd probably go with Pop Century, since it's newer and likely has the latest wrinkles in Value Resort design.
But unlike others here, I prefer All-Star Sports if I was staying there. Why? One reason. It's the first resort you come to,meaning you're more likely to get a seat on the buses and you will also get home first. (Sometimes, the All-Star resorts share a bus, making it a big advantage to be first on and first off.

I have never stayed at Pop Century, but have stayed at Sports, Music and Movies. Movies by far had more families with kids. All the movies are based on childrens movies.....so, there ya go.

Enjoy...

Just want to clear something up...previous posters stated Movies is the "smallest" of the All Stars...that's not entirely accurate. All 3 All Star resorts have the same amount of rooms in the same amount of buildings. The layouts are different though. There can be quiet a bit of walking at any of the AllStrars if you don't have a preferred room. I think they've improved on the layouts with Pop Century and the walking didn't seem as bad when I was there. (We were in the 70's building which is right next to the food court/bus stops but didn't have to pay for preferred) I do agree that the bussing seems better at Pop. Another reason why I'm going to stay at Pop in the future instead of the AllStars is because Groups are placed AllStars. By "Groups" I mean school bands, cheerleaders, or sports teams which may be participating in trips/events. They can get loud and out of hand sometimes which disrupts sleeping. One more CON for Movies in my book...it's very popular...usually selling out quickest in busy times so buses/food court/pool, etc can get really crowded. Just my $.02.

Try for a room in 50's C, Lakeside. You can see Epcot's SSE, it's a great view, and really just as close to the main hall as the prefered rooms in 60's.
