Which is the better time to go?

Hey everyone. So for Christmas my parents decided to give me and my brother a trip for Disney World during our Spring Break (March 23-31). We know that that's an insanely busy time to go to Disney World but because everyone in my family is in school (Me college, my brother high school and my parents are elementary school teachers) the only times we're able to ever go are the most busy times of the year. However, we were wondering if it'd be somewhat better to go during the summer? We've already accepted that it will be busy and expensive whenever we go. My mom is concerned about the heat in June as opposed to March. Also, my dad has really awful feet and leg issues so we would like him to be as comfortable as possible (though realistically I believe he'll end up in a scooter before the end of the trip). In people's experiences is one time any better than the other?

WE have DVC and usually go in March and June we for the same reasons our children's school. Both time are very busy. I would defiantly recommend March because even though it is busy it is not nearly as hot. Just use the Fast Pass System and you will be fine. You can also get you a Guest Assistance Pass for your Dad. Just remember to have fun and be flexible :).

I believe Easter is over the time you are planned to go (assuming you're talking about this year). If Easter is over that time it will be VERY busy! Like, the second busiest week of the year next to Christmas week. I'd suggest going over summer instead as most schools have their spring break over Easter week. I've been over Easter week before and the crowds were by far the worst I've ever seen. While I still managed to do everything I wanted to do, I was worn out by noon or 1 every day as you have to be there at rope drop every morning. If possible I'd, personally, change it to summer. As long as it's not over July 4th. Just my two cents.

Go in March just prepare for the crowds. It is the perfect weather time to go! June is very hot and it is also the rainy season with showers almost every day. Plus its early hurricane season. I live in Florida and I go a few weeks after Easter and early Dec every year.

My wife is a teacher so our schedule is not very flexible. I know school schedules are different around the country. In New York, students do not start classes until late August early September. We like to go as late in August as possible. The local students from Florida have already started school and although it is still busy, it is not nearly as crowded as the peak Holiday weeks or the first part of summer. If that works for your schedule, I would defiantly give late August a try.

I have to disagree with the others. I have leg and back problems myself, and by the third day, I sometimes have to have a scooter. That is suppose to be the busiest week of spring break. They are expecting so many, they have already put extra morning hours every day during that week at MK. When it is that busy, it is impossible to get a scooter, and if you get there early enough and get one, getting through the crowds is a pure nightmare. It is a pain to rent one from an outside company. I am tiny and don't look like I have a problem, so people will not give any courtesy. Not even the same courtesy they give walkers. They are so used to scooter abusers and pushers, they simply refuse to let you move. The only place I use the scooter line is at places like Captain EO where you are not allowed to sit during the preshow. Otherwise, I park it and wait in line with my family. If the pain gets bad, I go sit, but I make sure the people around us know I'm coming back so they don't think I'm breaking in line. I can tell you right now, your dad will end up needing a scooter. I walk and ride a bike at home, but that is totally different than walking on hot concrete for hours. My feet would look like balloons by evening. June can be crowded, the earlier in June you go the better, but not anything like the March crowds. And, yes, it may rain, but it's usually short and over. And, yes, it is hurricane season, we ran into that last June, but it ended up being one of our best trips. We put on our rainsuits and rode everything with no waittime.
It was hot, but not anywhere as hot as July and August. I do recommend that whenever you go, that your dad do early hours and leave during the heat of the day and come back in the evening. Once that sun started going down and the concrete cooled down, my feet and legs got much better. However, if they are having phased closing, and I'm sure they will, it will be hard for him to get back in if he leaves. He will get in as long as you are at a Disney resort and it doesn't go to phase 4, it will simply take much longer.
I'm just afraid that going during such a crowded time will put a bad taste in your mouth for WDW.
We will never do the weeks before, during or after Easter again.

I agree with ratherbeinwdw. I would go as early in June as you can. I have gone in June many many times. Yes, it can be a warm but I rather have it warm than fight the massive crowds during Easter week. Also if your dad is going to use a scooter the June crowds will be easier to maneuver than Easter week. And I would just get your dad the scooter as soon as you can. I believe renting scooters, wheelchairs and strollers are cheaper by the week than by the day.

Either time you go have a great time. If you are there in June, we might see you there.
