Which is the best month to go to WDW?

My family is booked at WDW June 15-21 but my husband wants to change it to early May. The parks are open much later in June than in May, but are they so crowded that you could see more in May even though you are there a few hours less? May is going to be inconvenient for our children because of school but if crowds are much less, I am willing to do it. Any advice?

We've been there a couple of times in early May. It's a very good time to go, but make sure you go AFTER Grad night weekend. They close down the MK early to regular visitors. I believe it is the last weekend of april or the first weekend of May. Crowds are relatively light otherwise.

Yes, the best weekend in May would be the one before Memorial Day. Actually, if you are there all weekend, save EPCOT for Sunday or Monday because it is open until at least 9 every night and shows Illumination each night. Magic Kingdom will have the latest hours on Saturday, and will include the parade and fireworks. MGM should be done on Friday, and then you can fit Animal Kingdom in any morning (get there when they open). The water parks are usually open from 9-6 that time of the year.

Anime, you have a husband? When did you get married? Is it a mistake or were you really born in 1987 as it says in your profile? :veryconfu

Oh god you’re going in June!!!
My fam always goes form the end of June to about the 6th or 7th of July. So many people and it smells like they never bath.
And don't get me started on the weather. Rain drops the size of bowling balls. I have personally seen people knocked off there feet. All the CM's run and yell incoming!! Every day its Sun rain sun and that’s just in the first 5 min of my morning. I’m surprised I haven’t suffered from Posttraumatic stress syndrome.
But then again It’s Disney and a fun time is had by all.

     I couldn't agree more. I have seen people literarily trampled in the doorways getting out of the way of the sudden downpours. I sometimes wonder if they haven't added another section of catastrophe canyon somewhere.

June is an awful time to go. It is prime paying time, plus it is hot and crowded. If that is the only time you can make it (ie..school, etc), then you don't have much of a choice (an it beats August), but I agree that early May is great. They have the flower show and it is usually less crowded. Also, they run great specials in May. My family went late January two years ago also and it was practically dead the whole week (including the weekend). I was surprised because we wore shorts, the weather was still very nice, in the 70s. Whatever you decide, have a wonderful time...you can't go wrong ever going to see the MOUSE! :sohappy:

We've always gone in Sept and it is nice -- except that's when they close rides and put up scaffolding for rehabs. But we're going next June, too, because of school. Same dates you listed.

As an ex-Floridian I can stand the heat. The parks are open later and I like the parks after dark better anyway. We'll nap in the afternoon. Years ago they used to do the castle fireworks at midnight in the summer -- I don't know if they do that now. Carousel of Progress and Timekeeper will (hopefully) be open. And we'll spend a lot of time in the water -- probably do both BB and TL.

So I'm looking forward to June.

Never done summer (heard the heat and the crowds are out of control).

I have once done an early December trip, and it's pure heaven. Extremely light crowds and very festive decorations. Totally gets you in the holiday spirit! It is a bit cool for the water parks, however.

For me, personally, Spring or Fall months. At a time when most kids still have school (before or after Winter/Spring/Summer break), there are less crowds and a lot shorter lines for rides. Only drawback I see for going in winter is Splash Mountain. If its cold (rarely is in Florida though), whats the point in making yourself colder than you already are?

I have only been to WDW four times:

(1) In July...it was awful...I thought I was used to the heat in New Orelans, but there in Florida, it felt worse. And it was very crowded in the summertime.

(2) In late September - early October ...The weather was better, and the park was not so crowded.

(3) & (4) In early December....The weather was great (cool in the early morning and evenings, and a bit warmer during the day, but comfortable. And the crowds were sparse, except on Saturday. The Christmas decorations were already up in all of the parks.

May is good.. Also if you dont mind the heat, end of August, there is no one there! Well, a LOT less than summer months. I went last year in August and had to take pictures of the emptiness in Epcot as soon as the Country part opened in the morning, we were the only ones (literally) there for the first 15 mintues!
