Which is faster Solo Rider Line or Fastpass?

Just doing some planning for an upcoming solo trip (not until next year but never too early to plan) and was wondering if any other solo travelers have ever tested the wait times for a solo rider line versus a Fastpass line on any rides.

Also, if anyone could link me to a full list of single rider lines I would really appreciate it. I typed "single rider" into the WDW Magic search engine but it only popped up with individual ride descriptions that had "single rider" in it...not a full list of the rides that have one.

thanks for your help!

In general, from my experience the Fast Pass line is significantly faster than the single rider line.

Off the top of my head, I know that Test Track, Expedition Everest and Rock N' Rollercoaster have single rider lines. When we were there a couple weeks ago though they shut down the RnR single rider line once (I believe because it reached a pretty long wait on its own)

Thanks that's good to know. I don't want to waste time in a single rider line if I could do things fater with a fastpass. I'll probably just save the single rider lines for when I already have a FP and can't get anoother one yet.

If anyone else has some experience with this please share! Thanks

It depends on several things. Fastpass one day was a better option one day and another day single rider was quicker for the rock n roll coaster at HWS. Also, depends on when you are going. Last Nov. there really wasn't a wait for most of the rides and when there was, single was the way to go

I think it usually depends on the ride. I remember at one point, the single rider line was going so quickly and the FP was getting pretty big. Expedition Everest, the same exact way. RnRC usually is the only ride where it gets very long. I think because the single rider line originated there and its a popular thing to do on that ride and tends to be longer than the FP line.

The actual fastpass line is usually shorter than single rider, but you do need to factor in the time that you would need to wait for that fastpass to come up as well. Since WDW only has a few single rider attractions, I find it better for the most part to get a fastpass for something else and then ride single when available. However, this also depends on the group I am going with...sometimes you just don't want to go single.

I disagree. I think the single rider line, to the extent there is one, is much faster. For example, since my family are all chickens....Im the only one that would dare ride EE. So I've only ridden single rider. I've never waited more than 4 minutes for the ride, ever!

Even with 40 minute waits out front for standby.

I will also contradict myself and say that the last time I rode single rider on R&RC, it was hell. It appeared that the ride operators made a concerted effort to not dip into the single rider line under any circumstance.....and as a result, I waited alot longer on single rider than just getting in the normal post-movie queue.

So at the end of the day, it really depends on the ride and the way the cast members pull from the queues.

@ Pirate, I would agree with you about the differences between RnRC and EE. EE's single rider is much faster than RnRC's (and it seems like guests don't always know the single rider for EE is available). RnRC's single rider line can be very, very long

Expedition Everest's Single Rider line has always been the shortest line and wait every time I've been to Animal Kingdom, as well as the Test Track in Epoct. Occasionally the Rock N' Rollercoaster has a short single riders line, but the wait may be a bit due to the Fast Pass Line getting priority it seems.

Like mentioned, it depends on which Ride. My friend wanted to go on EE so we agreed to meet her back at the entrance of it 40 minutes later because it was a 30 minute wait. She was able to ride it twice within that time period using the single rider line.

Without question the single rider line for EE and TT are quicker than fast pass. My last trip I rode both attractions several times. I don't think I waited more than 10 min from walking up to the attraction to then riding it. I was then able to get right back on as many times as I wanted. I must have ridden EE 4 times in a row.

I didn't know that RNR had a single rider line (although I'm not a big fan of it anyway).

This brings up a good question. Which attractions in the parks have single rider? Any others beside these three?

Thanks for all the advice, guys. I think I'll probably be doing FP for RnR and single rider for EE and TT.

Still no luck fidning a definitive single rider line list. If anyone knows of other rides besides these 3 let me know.

thanks!

That's probably the best bet. As others have said, it really just depends on the attraction. As for a breakdown of my experiences using them. I've never had any kind of bad experience with Test Track, and even going as a family we always use it. I could be wrong, but the ride vehicle for Test Track seems to really suit the single rider idea best. With six person cars, you're almost always going to have space for one or two single riders per car, which really makes that line move along, and increases the likelihood that two from the same party in the single rider line can get on a car together.

Everest has the luxury of the line being fairly hidden, so it's always going to be at least a little short, or at least was so in the past. However, I will say that it's been my experience that if you get to AK within the first hour or two of its opening, you can pretty much ride the ride in the standby line as much as you want fairly quickly with little or no wait, even in busier seasons.

RnRC has a very clear single rider line and a ride vehicle that doesn't suit itself as well to the concept and is almost always a bad idea to try to use it.

I think those 3 rides are the only ones that have one right now.

I think it depends on the season and the time of day. I have had a lot of luck on the single rider line and moved MUCH faster than a fastpass.

The thing is, when it comes to TT and rockin, you can't really see or tell how long the single line is until you get to the 'bulk' of the que. Rockin being the worse. Once you get done with the preshow and you're in the alley, is when you can be greeted with an insanely long single line which really sucks because it's hard to get out if you choose to. TT is similar, but a bit better since they usually keep the preshow doors open so you can see how long it is on the other side.

From my experience, I usually just single ride the rides that have the option and use fastpass for something else. At mgm, it'll either be ToT or Toy story I'll be holding a fastpass for. I honestly can't remember the last time I wasted a fastpass for rockin. It's either single ride it, or not ride it for me.
