If you had to choose between Disney during Halloween or Christmas, which one would you choose and why?

I've done both, and it's really a toss up for me.

With kids, I really thought the Halloween stuff was better. They loved dressing up, and trick-or-treating throughout the park. It was also a special moment when my son, dressed as Tony Stewart, went to ride Tomorrowland Speedway, and the CM saw him and started yelling to the other CMs, "Hey, everybody...Tony Stewart is here to drive our cars...etc"...and, then he asked my son for an autograph! Special. Also, there was just something cool about knowing I was riding HM on Halloween night, as we were actually there on Halloween night a few years back.

If I wasn't with kids, and just wanted to take a more relaxing approach, the Christmas stuff would have ranked higher. While it felt like something was missing to me, it was strictly because the kids were really hyped to ride more rides with shorter lines, so we didn't really get to watch many of the Xmas themed shows. It felt like just another night in the part, with the added benefit of cookies and cocoa. But, if the kids weren't there and we were watching the shows more, it might have felt different.

We'll see...next trip is less than a month away, and we do have tickets to the Christmas party! We'll try to con the kids into more shows this time!

I have done both, and although I loved MNSSHP, I would have to pick Christmas at the parks. I love visiting the countries in EPCOT to see how the celebrate, and love seeing the Candlelight Processional. It's just so festive to see all of the parks decorated.

Aaah, I think this helped me out! We are going in March 2012 and are planning a trip for 2013. We went once MNSSHP (2010) and enjoyed it so much. Never been at Christmas time. I do have a 9 year old daughter so after your review I think maybe I will hold off for a Christmas trip until she is older. Thank you!!

This is a toughie, but I'd have to go with Christmas. Not only it's my favorite holiday, but Disney just pulls it off so well. I love it!

Halloween especially if you have teens as you see the villans and the headless horseman and I love the spooky atmosphere. :fork: The drawback is that all the parks aren't decorated at halloween as they are at christmas and the resorts at christmas are amazing. :xmas:

In terms of a party, that might be the case...but overall I think Christmas time offers a lot more (and a good amount is included in park admission) and it just more festive in the parks.

My choice if you are just looking at holiday is Christmas, but only if you can get to Disney to enjoy it before the craziness of the winter break season. All the parks and resorts are decorated, and like I said above there is a lot to see that is just included in your admission.

I noticed this past Saturday the castle lights are on. How early are the decorations at the resorts, other parks and the Osborn lights are out? I am wondering as far as going before the crowds.

If you are asking which Magic Kingdom party is better...then definitely Halloween is the time to go!
I love Halloween as it is my favorite holiday, and love the atmosphere of the park...

However, if you are talking all the resorts...nothing beats Christmas!

I love resort hopping and looking at how each one decorates differently and still within the theme of the resort. The huge gingerbread creations, the way Epcot's World Showcase sparkles, and the Osbourne lights at the Studios make Christmas so magical there.

Wow...tough choice as far as the parties are concerned. I wish my work schedule allowed me to go at Christmas...I've gone on three Christmas trips there and love the MVMCP but the MNSSHP is awesome too...

I just can't decide based on the party only...pros and cons for each, but mostly pros. As far as everything else, I'm going with Christmas...as long as you can avoid crowds and go early December. :)
