I'm just curious if you had a family of 4, 2 adults, 2 children staying at a moderate resort at "value" season for 7 nights, using the dining plan. Which would be a better deal, free dining or the buy 4 get 3 deal?

Crunch the numbers and see. You didn't say the ages of the children, which could affect prices.
Plug your dates into the WDW website, once under the B4G3 promo and add dining, and once under the regular booking engine with no discount or meal plan (because that would be the price you'd pay, and the meal plan would be added on free).
I know that for two adults, Free Dining only won out over B4G3 at the Value resorts. Moderate and above the B4G3 was cheaper. I don't recall what the price difference was, so I don't know what adding two kids would do to the price.

If you are doing a full 7 nights, the Buy 4 Get 3 Free deal is a 43% discount.
Assuming a moderate resort and standard room during value season, that's $149/night plus tax, or $168/night x 3 nights = $504 savings. Water view would be $196 x 3 = $588 savings.
If your children are age 10+, and assuming free dining is the basic dining plan; at $39.99 per adult per night, your total 7 night dining total would be $39.99 x 4 x 7 = $1,119.72.
If your children are age 3-9, the value of free dining is $713.72.
Depending on your family's eating habits, it looks like free dining would give you the best savings.....given the assumptions above.

Thanks, I have a 3 and 5 year old and I'm trying to figure out if we will hit WDW again this year or not. With all these deals we have been getting, I think Disney really wants us there but I needed to crunch numbers and see if we really are going to go a 3rd year in a row or not. Thanks again.
