Hi- I'm looking for some advice on which digital camera to buy.

Have a budget of £300 and wondered about the Sony DSC P71 as it has had some good reviews, but then I also like the look of the Fuji 4800 etc.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks:kiss:

I have a Sony Cybershot DSC-S75 and just love it. It is my first digital camera and I take it everywhere now. It is a tad big (compared to some of the digital cameras out there that fit in your shirt pocket), but it takes wonderful pictures. All the pictures on my website (wdwfan.com) were taken with it.

Check out www.dpreview.com or www.dcresource.com . They are both excellent resources for in-depth reviews with lots of sample pics from the cameras. DPreview also has great forums for each camera manufacterer. Posters there are very open about what they like and dislike about their cameras.

Personally, I have a Fuji Finepix 6900 that I love and would recommend. But it is a bit out of your stated price range.

Good luck with the search!

I have been a long time Nikon user (and still am for film cameras), but after researching it I bought an Olympus D-510 (now replaced by the D-520), and have been completely pleased. I went with the Olympus over a Nikon because of some negative comments I'd seen on the Nikon in the price range I was going for. Well, the Olympus is great. The pictures are excellent, it seamlessly interfaces with my computer (a Mac), its a good size, etc., etc. Most impressive to me, however was the battery life. I took two sets of rechargeables and a recharger to WDW this past July, expecting to need them. I didn't. Eight days there, over 260 pictures taken - all on the same set of batteries! Well worth a look. :D

Heading for the great escape.
I have been using a Nikon D100 for the last few weeks and I think its a great camera for the price. It has all the features of my D1 H but far better resolution , and is a 1/4 of the price.

Just to say thanks for your input.

I'm now the proud owner of the Sony DSC P71 - managed to get a really good price on it as well - the shop matched the net price I'd found:cool:

Congratulations! If you get a chance, it would be great if you could post a couple of pictures here. I'd love to see how they come out.
