Which building at All Star Music?

I have booked a trip for early November at All Star Music (preferred room). I have never been to this resort, so want to make sure I get in a building that is the closest to the bus stop / food court / main bldg., etc. I am assuming that since I paid extra for preferred room that I should get such a room, but just want to make sure that when I check in that this happens. Any advice from those who have stayed here? Does preferred room get you anything at this resort other than a good location?

Thanks!

Buildings 1 and 10 are the Calyspo buildings and they are the 2 buildings that are prefered. Both are closest to Buses, food, and the main pool.

I always get the preferred room, but that's pretty much it. The preferred rate just garauntees you'll be in Calypso.

And I've had rooms that were in parts of the building that were farther away from some rooms in non-preferred buildings, but I still think it's worth it. *Edit - I just checked a map of AS Music, and the lay-out makes it a no-brainer. Those buildings are much closer than the others, so I'd recommend paying the extra*

It's not unusual for us to go back and forth from main building to our room 6 times a day or more.

Have fun!

This will be our third year to stay at All Star Music and we've stayed in Calypso the past two years with plans to do it again this November.

Being close to Melody Hall is the only perk you get for your extra $10, but well worth it especially after a long day and you're getting back late. The AllStar building are pretty well spread out and unless you're in Calypso it can be about 1/4 mile hike back to the room from the bus stop.

One thing I might note for you to consider when you make requests. We had a ground floor room facing the pool in 2004 and the maintanence crews start the pressure washers every morning at the first hint of dawn to clean around the pool decking. That can interrupt your snooze time if you're planning to sleep in late. Last year we opted for a room on an upper level on the backside of Calypso and found that was much easier for transporting luggage to our vehicle, yet we were still right up by Melody Hall for the morningswhen we wanted to use the busses.

As far as the crowds are concerned, All Star Music tends to be quieter and less heavily trafficked than Movies or Sports. And if you plan to visit the other pools, Music has you in the center of all the buildings with less walking from one resort to the other.

I just returned from a fabulous stay at All Star Music.
Wow! Mid September is a great time to experience Disney. Most rides were walk ons and even Soarin was only a 10 minute wait!

All Star Music is looking great. We stayed in Calypso building 10.

We stayed in room 0618 (for 8 nights) which is a HA room with a roll in shower.
It was just refurbished and had a totally new look.

It was decorated with the same decor as the new suites and even had a privacy curtain between the bedroom area and the area by the sink!

All of the rooms, standard, king, HA and the Suites in the Calypso and Jazz buildings are supposed be reburbished by middle of this month (Oct.) So if you are going in November you should get a refubished room.

The rooms in the other buildings at All Star Music are slated to begin refurbishment in January and be finished by June.

Have fun at Disney!
