Which Buffet?

My boyfriend and I are talking about going to a buffet sometime soon but wanted something other than the crystal palace, mostly because we're trying to try new things out on property. We've talked about Boma, and Cape May Cafe, but wanted some other opinions as well. Any suggestions/thoughts?

Chef Mickeys....Akershus....

What about "all you can enjoy" places (Disneys magical term for 'eat up piggies, oink oink!')?

In all seriousness, there are some really good all you can eat places.
I mentioned Akershus to him, we're pretty much down for anything.

What didn't you like about 1900? Also, I have been wanting to try Tuskers as well.
I just had a bad experience there. It wasn't terrible, but underwhelming for the price. I did have an awful server...but Im willing to chalk that off as an anomaly. Really it was that the quality of food and theme compared to cost wasn't worth it, in my opine.

I will note, I've only done breakfast there, and I've read plenty of reviews where people adored it.

Tuskers breakfast is a must do for me every year. They also have a very good lunch / dinner. Absolutely worth checking it out!

It sounds like maybe you had a poor, but isolated incident.

I am sure I did. But, it doesn't fix the theme of the restaurant, which, for the money, there are better buffets on property in my opinion.

It felt like I was eating in a hotel conference room buffet...not a fully themed restaurant that serves all day.

Like I said, the whole experience for me was just underwhelming.

I'll definitely keep that in mind, though we'd probably surely consider one of the others before 1900 anyways. My boyfriend is really fixated on Boma but we wanted other ideas and suggestions :D

Which meal are you looking for? And are you wanting a character experience?

Ultimately, we're not as big on the dinner buffets b/c the food doesn't always seem to measure up to dinner at a menu spot, but Boma and Biergarten have been some of the more enjoyable dinner buffets we've experienced (although, it's been a while since we've done Biergarten). I don't really classify Akershus as a buffet since you order your entrees from a menu, but the cold buffet (which is essentially serves as appetizers/salad) is nice. I guess there's also family style all you can eat options like 'Ohana and Garden Grill.

We're impartial about it being a character experience. I was just about to look at different menus for the different restaurants mentioned so far.
Neither of us are picky eaters, either, so that expands our options.

1900 Park and Biergarten are my favorites. Theme is poor at 1900 but the food has always bee above average and the step sisrers are entertaining.

Biergarten is ok. I love the entertainment, but since I grew up in Southern Germany, I was not very impressed with the food.

I make better at home...

Again, personal opinion (of course)

Boma for dinner and Tusker House for Breakfast or lunch. Both places are favorites of ours. Our kids enjoy Chef Mickeys the most. Not so much for my wife and I. 1900 Park Fare is nice, too. Boma is the only one listed that is not a character dining experience.

Since you are looking for variety, I think Boma is the most 'unique' of the buffets with the majority of offerings being unique to it. Tusker House and Biergarten also have some unique offerings - and Biergarten has the good entertainment. There are a couple unique things at Akershus, but it isn't as unique as you would expect. 1900's unique contribution is the strawberry soup, but other than that it is pretty standard. The clambake at Cape May also has some unique things, but isn't all that special.

Personally, I'd go check out the menus and see which list is most up your alley!
