To anyone who has stayed at AOA, which wing is best to stay at? It will be me and my husband with our 3 girls. Memo, Cars,or Lion King? Also has anyone tried stuffing 5 ppl into a Mermaid room? Was it uncomfortable? Is there any other downfall to the Mermaid wing besides space and the walk? Thanks!

You would only be able to have 5 people in a LM room if one of the kids is under age 3. I know people put 5 (legally) in a standard room all the time so it definitely can be done, but I believe it would be a tight fit. And only having 1 bathroom for 5 people would be the deal breaker for me.

As far as location, we recently returned from a 7 day stay in a Lion King suite. We were in building 10 in the wing closest to the main building. We were 4th floor and our room was 2 doors away from the end of the hall closest to the main building. It literally took us about 2 minutes to get to a pool and Landscape of Flavors. It was about a 3 minute walk to the bus stops (through the main building or walking along the parking lot). If you need to use an elevator, that adds a minute or two to your walking time as they're located in the center of the buildings. This location was closer to the main building than about 2/3 of the Nemo suites. We'll definitely stay in this section again the next time we go.

Assuming you're staying for more than just one night, I wouldn't try to squeeze into a mermaid room. Even if you all have room to sleep, there is probably not enough room for all of the luggage that comes with a family of five. We stayed there with two adults and one child and I just can't imagine an extended vacation there with two more kids. Just my opinion.

From what you are telling us of your situation, I would recommend staying in the Nemo section. We stayed there in Novemeber and it was super convenient to the pool, lobby area, and buses. If you are okay with walking a further distance in the evenings, with small children, after a long day at the parks then stay at one of the other wings. As for me, closer is better.

Have a great time either way.

The most important thing is to make sure you list your preferences on your reservation. If the theme is the most important, reserve a room in the specific section. If being close to the main buiding and bus stops is most important, then note that on the reservation. If you look at the maps of the resort, you'll see that while the Nemo section in general is closest to the main building, the rooms at one end of the Lion King (and Cars to some degree) buildings are closer to the main building than the rooms at the far ends of the Nemo buildings. In reality, none of the suites is really a long walk. And it's very convenient to be able to walk through the interior of the buildings to get to the closest point to the main building.

Five people in Little Mermaid...2 Double Beds...how old are the girls? Under 6, possibly...older no way!
If it has to be AoA, then which theme is their favorite...I'd vote Nemo or Cars, but my DD would vote Lion King...

I stayed in the Mermaid Wing last October and felt like though nice, it was really really far away. It was also small, and I wouldn't want to squeeze that many people into the room.

We stayed in a Nemo suite, and loved it! Would defiantly do it again! The theming was great and it was really nice. It was really close to the main building, took us under a minute to get there. Would recommend it :)

We stayed in a Nemo room and it was great. Close to everything, although compared to some resorts all the rooms are convenient to the pool/food/front desk. Overall though, I would say Cars have the best themed rooms and outside decorations, Nemo is closest to the pool, and Lion King is generally the quietest.

We stayed in April, and split our stay between Little Mermaid and Lion King. There's only 3 of us, so we don't need the space, but it was so nice having so much space in the suite. Our son was 10 months old at the time, so it was nice having the separate room for him to nap in. We also preferred the Nemo pool and walked there every day...which was borderline torture from the LM rooms (we even drove one of the days lol) but so very convenient from the suite. We were on the 1st floor by the doors closest to the main building, so our walk to the food court and pool from the suite was less than 2 minutes. Cars area has a lot of photo opportunities, but all of them do. We would try to stay in the Nemo section next time but any of them seem great.

Did you notice if the Nemo suites were louder having the main pool right there?

We stayed at POP in 09' with our 2 teens & infant DD the room size is a bit smaller than AOA but, very similar. I would recommend staying in a suite. It was a bit tight even though we weren't in there all that much. We took our younger DD last September & stayed in a LMR at AOA & it was great for us but, I wouldn't want to squeeze anybody else in. We thought that CARS was the best section but, would stay in NEMO just for convenience!

We stayed in Lion King in August. We LOVED it! It was the perfect location. We drove down from Nj and the parking lot is right behind Lion King (building 10). It is next to Animation Hall and located between the Mermaid pool and main pool. Little Mermaid rooms were not open at the time but we got to peak in the windows, the rooms are small, too small for 5. It will be very tight with a pack and play and luggage.

We were in building 10. We were about 4 rooms down from the elevator almost directly center of Lion King Courtyard. I don't think it was even a 5 minute walk from our room to Landscape of Flavors.
