Where's the Weird?

Did I miss this? They had a couple of teasers at D23 that hinted at a project from Marvel and Disney Imagineering. They said details would be given in September. I didn't see any details. Has anyone else seen or heard anything about this?

There is a rumor that it is an attraction based on Marvel comic book concepts, but I don't think it has anything to do with the Superheroes. So, it may not be part of the Universal/Marvel contract.

I haven't heard anything about attractions based marvel comic book concepts for WDW on this board based on what lee, WDW1974, and Martin mentioned in the past.

There has been rumors about Disneyland having a Marvel attraction in the past. There also is supposed to be some type of a Marvel attraction coming to Hung Kong Disneyland.

The other thing is Disney didn't say September of 2013. All Bob Iger said about announcements is soon back in August and that doesn't give us a month. All is known is Bob Iger and Thomas Staggs is going to D23 for Tokyo this month. The Tokyo d23 is happening from October 12th to October 14th.

I don't expect any WDW announcements at the Tokyo D23 except if there is any Star War attraction announcements happening there for some reason since multiple Disney theme parks will be getting the same Star Wars attractions.

They revealed it was actually a new Marvel comic book project based on Rolly Crumps mystical, yet never realized walkthrough, the Museum of the Weird.

Thought they had a deal with Universal saying they wouldn't make Marvel attractions?

1. This is about a comic book based on an original Disney (WDI) idea. So it has nothing to do with the parks.
2. Disney is only prohibited from using Marvel characters at WDW that are in use at USF and their "families". Other Marvel concepts could be used at WDW. However, the stuff that could be used is not typically of high enough cultural relevance to warrant basing anything at WDW on them.

But, hey, if they wanted to put Howard the Duck at WDW, they could!

Well, bear in mind, Disney has been greenlighting more obscure characters into films, such as Guardians of the Galaxy and Big Hero 6. This could be part of a long term plan to elevate characters to the level that others enjoy so that Disney does have more options to use if they wanted to.

People are assuming that it is a comic book based on Museum of the Weird. That's what I thought at first. This hasn't been confirmed by Disney. I've read that it is an attraction based on Marvel comic book concepts (again not the superheroes). It may be based on the Horror title from the 1970s called Marvel's Weird Wonder Tales. These were narrated by the Marvel character Dr. Druid. If you look at the devil in the clock, it bears a strong resemblance to Dr. Druid.

I'd heard somewhere that Imagineers were working on a touring Marvel attraction; maybe this Weird thing ties in with that. Not the one I'd initially read, but here's an article, if you're curious, though it DID remind me that one of the producers of the Spider-Man musical is involved.
