I called for reservations at Rose & Crown and asked for 6pm. Heather (at WDW-DINE) told me to hold off and eat at 8pm then ask for blacony or patio seating so I can eat then watch the show at 9pm from there.

On our last vacation we had reservations for 8:15 at the Rose & Crown and when we checked in we requested a table on the patio and we were lucky enough to get one and had the best view of Illuminations. So, I would also suggest to wait until about an hour before the show to eat and try to check in about 15 min. before your reservation. It was worth it. I hope to get lucky again this year. Oh-and the food was pretty good.

We had reservations for the Rose and Crown for around 8:00, and when we were through with our meals, our waitress lead us outside to a special roped-off area to watch.

We didn't have to wait long at all before they began, and it was a perfect seat...plus, our waitress was so friendly - Tottenham fan or not xD

I agree with everyone else, eat at Rose and Crown around 8 and get good seats. When I was there in December we at at 8 and after dinner our waitress took us outside to a special section they have just for their dinner guests. It was standing room only but it was still worth it. If you are lucky you could ask to eat on the patio but those tables fill up quickly.

And the Rose & Crown is one of two restuarants on the Lagoon. The other one is San Angel Inn by the Mexico Pavillion. So I would call ahead for either one if you want to eat and sit near the show at Epcot but remember that it usually starts around 9pm.

Actually San Angel Inn will not get you a good view of the show as it is INSIDE the mexican pavilion.

La Cantina De San Angel IS on the banks of the lagoon, however it is quick service, therefore no advance reservations. However, fighting the throngs of quick serve families and dirty tables is probably NOT going to offer you an optimum viewing spot!
