Where to stay

We are planing to take a trip to Disney world. It will be three of us. We don’t want to stay at a resort that won’t cost us too too much. We are staying 6 nights so that we have 5 days at the park. We have stayed off property, all-star music, Caribbean, pop century, and all star sports. We don’t really want to stay in Port Orleans as we live in New Orleans. We also want magic bands and would rather not stay at downtown Disney. We won’t be spending much time at the resort, but we still want good food and nice rooms most importantly. Does anyone have any recommendations at where we should stay if we stay on property?

What about the other side of Port Orleans - Riverside, rather than French Quarter? There's also Coronado Springs Resort.

Sounds like you might be interested in the Swan/Dolphin. All the bennies of a WDW resort - but not near Disney Springs.

We have lived both places in Louisiana. As south as it gets, in the gulf, and often in New Orleans. Any thing New Orleans would stress me out. I would be criticizing everything. Like jazz music at riverside. That’s just wrong.

I hear ya. Do the Swan/Dolphin appeal? Roughly Moderate Resort in price but more Deluxe Resort in quality (minus theming).

Or the aforementioned CSR? Some construction going on, but more themed and quite "cheap" as far as things go right now. CBR too, but you've stayed there.

I didn’t even think of the CSR. Do you know anything about it. How is it?

It's a nice resort; meant more for the convention/meeting crowd in a sense, but fully serviceable. Decent theming, nice pool area. It's undergoing some construction near the main building area but as a result, the fares are nicely reduced (and shouldn't affect you too much anyway). The whole resort will be getting a makeover soon, but that's a story for another day.

In an effort to continually enhance the Guest experience, we recently announced that exciting changes will be made at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. Please note that noise will be heard while our Resort is undergoing refurbishments, but noise should not be heard from Guest rooms prior to 9:00am daily.

During this time, our exceptional amenities including dining and merchandise locations, pools, La Vida Health Club with the spa and salon, and recreation activities such as beach volleyball, Iguana Arcade, Movies Under the Stars and more, will remain available for your enjoyment.

Looking at CBS, I think it’s a great idea thank you so much!

We concedered it and we likes the drawing classes you can take but I have heard that the transportation is really bad. Then again that was only the opinion I heard from 3 or 4 people.
I heard similar gripes with the CSR back a few years ago. I think disney is going to ensure that people can get from the resort to the parks.

The biggest amenity of all, though, is that it does not share bus transportation service with any other Walt Disney World hotel. This means that, along with Pop Century, it has the best bus transportation in all of Walt Disney World.

There's a FB group for Coronado Springs (well several actually) that might help you decide. They often share pictures of the construction, room pictures, etc. that might help. We chose CSR over Riverside this time because the deal was too good to pass up. We're not going to be in the room that often anyway and I'm hoping to get a renovated room. I'll always love Riverside though because we find it more relaxing and quiet (especially after a busy day in the parks) and we love taking the boat to Disney Springs, where we enjoy spending a lot of time. And not many large tour groups have been at Riverside when we've been there so it was really nice. But I totally understand why it might not be your thing.

We stayed at AoA and had no issues with transportation. Buses took longer at POR it seemed than at AoA. The room was perfect size for our party of 3 in the Little Mermaid room. We were not too far of a walk to the main pool and food court. The theming all around the AoA property is really cool.
