Where to stay in Saratoga Springs?

We are going to Saratoga Springs in 3 weeks and I thought about calling ahead of time to see about requesting a certain area of the resort to stay in. We are driving, so we won't need bus access. I'd like to be able to walk to DTD or possibly take the boat.

So, which is the best spot to stay in? It looks like there are 3 areas:
The Paddock
Congress Park
The Springs

Also, which is faster to take, the boat or walking? I know the boats can be a little slow in the Boardwalk area and it is quicker to walk at times.

We stayed in Congress Park our last visit. It was not a bad walk to either DTD or the Main Hall of the resort. We have requested that area again. It was only about 10 minutes either way to walk.

The boats to DTD is slower than walking there.

Did you request it ahead of time or upon your arrival? Just wondering how I approach it.

Agree that Congress Park is better for walking to DTD.

We requested it ahead of time, but you could ask at time of check-in. When you request remember that it is not guarenteed, but it is worth a shot. If you get Congress Park see if you can get a view of DTD. It is really pretty at night.
