Where to run at Universal?

Hey runners - we have 3 days at Universal before we go to Disney this August. Staying at Cabana Bay, and looking for suggestions for where to get some early morning runs in while there. Preferably 5 miles or so. Thanks!

on the other side of city walk next to the universal studios is a path to continue on to PB and also hard rock
So do you need to run through City Walk? And are there any security things to go through or is this all open to the public?

Did you go via this same path?
There's only one path to get to Hard Rock & Portofino, next to the entrance to USF. Keep in mind these aren't actually running paths, so you will need to be mindful of other guests using them, and you will also need to cross a portion of CityWalk to get from one to the other. You will encounter a security checkpoint on both paths, but will only be stopped upon entering CityWalk from either side. Simply walk (don't run) through the gate at the other checkpoint. They will not ask for a room card. If you choose to run all the way to Portofino, you will either need to run all the way back or take a water taxi to CityWalk, where you can then either return on foot or take another taxi as far as Sapphire Falls.

Yeah, this would definitely be a there and back kind of thing. What time does security start? And can you get through if no one is working yet? I guess I may need to do the street run if security is going to be an issue.

CityWalk opens at 8:00 am. If that's too late for you, the path from Cabana Bay also forks off just before reaching CityWalk onto the sidewalk that runs along the road behind IOA. But this would be less distance and you'd need to cross the road back to Cabana Bay.

I will certainly be running before 8. Not going to waste a park day by starting late. And I'll find a way to get in at least 5 miles. Just not sure of my best options...that's what I am trying to sort out.

Not sure what you mean. I was asking Figgy if they had gone the same path as we were discussing without having to show ID.
I've gone from Portofino through HR grounds to RP and never had to show ID. You're free to resort hop on UNI property even if not staying there just like at Disney. I've never been asked for any type of ID except when having an adult beverage because just like Disney they'd card Izma. Of course you'll need ID when checking in

At least an hour before early park entry. It may be earlier
