Ok...I know its early, but I gotta know..We are planning our trip for July 2013. Which is better: Hollywood and Vine or Brown Derby. We will be doing the Fantasmic Pkg., and we ate Mama Melrose last year and did not care for it. We had eaten there before, so we were disappointed.

We need time for things to happen.
Well Hollywood and Vine is a cafeteria style (1 credit DDP) buffet and Brown Derby is a (2 credit DDP) Signature restaurant. I've eaten at H&V, and although not terrible was nothing to write home about either. I've heard a lot of good things about BD, so if money isn't an object of concern here and you're just talking about good eats and a excellent dining experience....I think the answer is going to be pretty simple. :)

Brown Derby without question, really turned around in the last 2 years and now thoroughly deserves it signiture status ;)

We normally go to H&V for the Fantasmic Package, the buffet is adequate and serves it purpose! We go there for Fantasmic seating not the food! I hear the Brown Derby is good, go there!

If you were disappointed with Mamma Melrose you will most likely be more so with Hollywood & Vine.
If you would give the Crystal Palace a 100 then H & V is a 70 (IMO)

Brown Derby has my vote.

Brown Derby is awesome. One of my favorites in Disney. Lamb is awesome. The grapefruit cake for dessert is a must try as well!!

Just wanted to throw in there that we tried at 180 days (7 am)to get the Fantasmic package and didn't get it. We went for H&V or Melrose. Also I was told by a cm that your res had to be before 3 ( so lunch essentially) but I can't confirm it.

I would like to try brown derby! Is it 2 credits for lunch too?

As one BAMA fan to another try Brown Derby over Hollywood and Vine. But, I think you should give Mama Melrose another shot. We have done it several times and we enjoy it. And by the way, ROLL TIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brown Derby is great if you've got the 2 credits. We loved our steak, cobb salad and grapefruit cake there - all the usual recommendations!

Definitely Brown Derby as long as you're willing to pay the added price (or use the extra coupon). That being said, I'm not a huge fan of the Fantasmic Dinner Package. Granted you don't have to wait in line for the show, but the seats you get really aren't all that great. Just my two cents. Happy planning!

No doubt about it Brown Derby -- its one of the finest restaurants on property...and well worth the 2 credits on the dining plan, but also well worth just plain old paying out of pocket if you don't have the dining plan. It is, however, very expensive. I love it -- go there on every visit.

Definitely BD. H&V is not very clean and very plain in food quality. I would pay the 2 TS credits. MM was good at one point, but not anymore. Hopefully they will get a refurb in the menu soon. MM has nice features, but food has dropped. As others have said, BD changed two years ago and has changed for the better.

I am not a fan of buffets so you couldnt pay me to eat a Hollywood & Vine!
The Hollywood Brown Derby has to be one of the best restaurants on property so it gets my vote!
