Where to go evenings aside from MK, Epcot, and DTD?

If you rested in your room for a couple of hours and it was around, say, 4pm, and you didn't want to go back to MK, Epcot, or DTD, where would you go? I'm really just trying to decide if in a situation like that we'd go to any of the other WDW parks. Probably it wouldn't be worth the time to get there. I know there's plenty of other stuff to do (visiting another resort, boat rides, swimming at our resort, dinner, etc.) Just trying to plan park days really.

Thanks, I totally forgot about the boardwalk - I've never seen it, but it sounds like a good place for us to hang out. Fishing, Miniature golf, etc - seems like the perfect place for an evening! This is good. Now I'm starting to wonder if ParkHopper will even be necessary. Anyway, great that there are a lot of choices for places to go.

This is usually when we enjoy pool time or a little shopping or exploring of our resort. If you are staying on site this can be an excellent time to avoid crowds at the pool and relax a bit.

We tend to be rope drop people and are usually ready for some r&r by the late afternoon. We did go back to the room around 3 and nap and head back out about 6 last trip to watch the Main Street Electrical. So we try to switch up our routine a bit. Never know which way is the best way to do the parks until you try them all.

We love Ft. Wilderness at night. Granted, we're a little spoiled because we're at WL, so it's just a boat ride away. But, our kids love the horse rides and other fun activities to do there. Our favorite is Chip and Dale's Campfire Sing Along with the outdoor movie. That's really a good time.

One evening, we had dinner off campus (only just - we were at Crossroads), had a few beers, then played mini golf at Winter Summerland.

Now that was a fun night!

I've also done Boardwalk at night. It's quite calm and relaxed, and you might be able to see some of the EPCOT fireworks.

We will (I hope!) be rope-drop people too, but because the Halloween party is running so many nights when we'll be there, I was a little worried about going to parks that close at 7pm after the R&R at the resort. Could be a lot of travelling for very little ride time. I find that Halloween party a big nuisance!

We are going during that time too. It can be a nuisance but just stay longer at the park get in what you can, then go to the hotel to relax. We did that on our last trip in 2011 and honestly barely noticed there were days that MK closed at 7pm. I like using the pools at the resorts at night. I can put a load or two of laundry in, take a dip in the pool and just relax my aching muscles and then head to bed feeling relaxed and ready for a good night's rest.

Tell me, do the horse rides cost more? And what age do you have to be to do it?
