Where have the postcards gone?

We were to WDW in May and wanted to buy some postcards of night shots etc... that we never can take as well as the pros. We would also have liked some shots of favorite rides.

We were not able to find any except the really fancy ones for like $3 each. How long has it been since they sold postcards? and what is up with that?

You know... I havn't seen many postcard stands either in stores or in giftshops in a while. I believe there where a few I saw at the Disney Store in the Downtown Disney area, or some in Animal Kingdom.

I saw some in DD while there -- and mostly you see standard postcards in NON-disney locations throughout Orlando - Walgreens, etc...

I think postcards have gone the way of the dinosaur -- people send photos from their phones, there are various places you can send photos with your face on them from Disney itself -- and most popularly, people just use their digital cameras, immediately upload the photos to their laptops back at the resort, and send those as e-mail.

That leaves those of us who like to get postcards for ourselves kind of out in the cold. I know as recently as this past Christmas, though - the Disney shops were selling those "pack of 10 postcards" with various shots on them, although I didn't see any single cards.

I was there in Oct. '05 and they had some in the Trading Post in FW. I also believe they had some in DTD. I agree though, not as easy to find and not as readily available.

We were there in May of '05 and had no problems finding postcards. Still even have some that we brought home for scrapbooks cause we didn't get around to sending all of them. Mostly we bought them at the resort (Pop) and at MK and MGM. Not huge selections at either place, just one large carousel stand with maybe 4 sides and 6 rows on each side. my girls are young enough to love to send mail to their friends from disney.
