Where did "I'm going to Disneyland/World!" start in reference to the Super Bowl?

The most valuable player in the Super Bowl has always traditionally rode in a float after the game (although I am not sure if Tom Brady did it this year). But where did it start? As a big football fan I should know this, but I don't.

Excerpts from the Orlando Sentinel :

While Tom Brady was the Super Bowl MVP, he'd already gone to Disney twice before in 2002 and 2004.

2015 Super Bowl XLIX (Julian Edelman, Malcolm Butler, New England Patriots)

Butler's appearance will make it only the second time a defensive player has made the trip. The first was 2014's appearance by Super Bowl MVP and Seattle Seahawk Malcolm Smith, who came to Disney World. This is also the first time since 2009 that two people received the Disney honor, when Santonio Holmes and Ben Roethlisberger of the Steelers promised to make the trip to hang with Mickey.

This year's campaign though will only send the players to the West Coast, which isn't much of a surprise since the game was in Glendale, Arizona, and closer to the original Disney theme park. Disney World has hosted the parade for the last six years, with Eli Manning the last to appear at Disneyland after his first Super Bowl win 2008, which was also held in Glendale. Every Super Bowl since has been closer to Orlando.
