We booked through a travel agent I didn't realize that I cannot start paying a little here and there through the WDW website. It has to go through travel agency. DH wants to start using Disney reward points to start paying down for the trip. Agent questioned us on this. So my ? is should we wait to start paying or do it little by little? Opinions?? trip is in Dec.

One Little Spark...
I always pay off my remaining balance after deposit as close to the final due date as possible. I would rather that money sit in an interest bearing account working for me rather than in Disneys pockets for the same period of time.

However, I can't leave it in an account I look at regularly or I may lapse and spend it...so, I have an automatic draft set up to move a certain amount of each paycheck to a mutual fund on a biweekly basis. I pay off the final balance on the due date with a credit card, and then pay off the credit card with money from the mutual fund.

Unless things have changed with Disney Visa, you have to have those points applied to what looks and works like a credit card. This is not something you will want to do every month so I would wait until you have a decent amount, apply them to the card and do a single payment.

You should be able to send the agent instructions to make payments when you wish.

If you'd usually make payments every other week, just send the agent instructions every other week to make a payment and how much.

If possible my opinion is this way because this is how we do it. If you can i would pay it all off at once as quick as possible, because of the out of site oit of mind issue. we pay it off then no worries except for our gas, but we drive down every time we go. then your not like awe man i have to pay this much or do i owe this much worries & stress. With my travel agent we had to pay 200 down with in 7 days when we booked it, plus there was a certain date that we had to have balance paid in full.

I always pay off what ever I can when I can. Your TA can handle it just call them when you want to make a payment and they should be able to do it for you. Its a good feeling when its paid off then I start saving for all the extras for the trip. For the Disney rewards you have to get a reward card ( not your credit card) and then you transfer your points to it. From that card you can use your reward points. Just remember don't get that card too early or transfer too many points at a time that you won't be using because those cards do expire with any points left on them. The cards are good for about a year.
