When to order tickets?

I'm going to DL in late June because I'll be in the LA area, but I was wondering if tickets are something that needed to be bought ASAP or I can wait. We will be staying off site also, and I will be using my Disney Vacation Account to pay for the tickets. It will be my first visit, and unlike being somewhat knowledgeable about WDW, I am clueless about DL.

I wonder if you buy tickets on a lower priced day could you use them on a higher priced day?

There's no advantage I buying them in advance except not dealing with the ticket counter. If you're buying a one day ticket you have to say what day your going to use it.

No you can't. If you buy a 1 day value ticket, it can only be used on value days.

No need to buy them ASAP, but I would recommend purchasing in advance (even just the night before if you have access to a printer) to avoid the ticket booth lines.
