When to arrive if not staying at a resort on Extra Magic Hours morning?

My husband and I will be visiting Magic Kingdom for the first time February 9. Due to our schedule, we will only be able to visit on this day. There are Extra Magic Hours that day from 8am - 9am that morning, with normal opening being 9am. Since we aren’t staying at a resort, what time do we need to arrive to get in the park as soon as possible? I wasn’t able to get a Fastpass reservation for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, so I want to go there first. I know the line may already be long, but I’m not sure how else to go about it. Thanks in advance for any help!

You are able to enter Main Street and the central plaza at 8am and the lands will open at 9am. I would aim to be at the auto plaza by 730/745 to give you time to park, get to the Ticket & Transportation Center, and then get over to the park entrance.

Theres nothing you can really do to make the situation better. Because you are not able to have access to using the EMH you are going to be at a huge disadvantage. Those guests getting in early will be targeting 7DMT ( and some of the other more popular attractions ) first, so no matter what time you get in you will be looking at a long line. Just get to the park as early as you can and be prepared for a wait.

How long will it take us to get from the Ticket & Transportation Center to the park?

You’ll have to walk /tram to the TTC and go through security there. Then you can either take the ferry boat or monorail. Both take about 5-10 mins once on board, it just depends on how long the lines are. The ferry boat comes less often than the monorail but can hold a lot of people. Monorails come often during the morning rush. Basically once through security I’d say maybe 30 minutes to get to the park? If you want to be safe and get there earlier you can get onto Main Street starting at 8, grab a coffee or pastry and look at the shops as you wat for 9am.

Another option could be to book an early breakfast reservation at The Wave. It’s a table service restaurant at Disney Contemporary Resort. That way you can park there, have breakfast, then just walk to MK from the resort. It’s about a 10 minute walk.

Hope that helps!

So, if we get to the parking area around 6:45-7:00, that should give us enough time to get through security, ride the monorail to the park, and be able to go into Main Street right at 8:00?

I have another suggestion if you’re arriving that early, try to get a reservation at Be Our Guest for breakfast @ 8-8:30 It’s quick service so it won’t take very long.. but that way you’ll already be in Fantasyland and can head straight to Mine Train after. :)

Already tried that and there’s no slots left. Is there another way to try to get a reservation other than online?

I was able to get 2 reservations, each for a “party of 1” last year, because there wasn’t availability for a “party of 2”. I booked one on the app and the other via phone.

Strange.. but it worked.

The only reservation for a party of one was at 9:00. If I call, is it possible that there are more spots available that aren’t showing online? And if so, where do I find the number to call?

Yes. Call to check. Tell her you need a reservation for 1 and leave it at that. Then you can go back and add the second later on.
If that doesn’t work- keep checking the same way.. party of 2 and party of 1. Something should open up!

Here’s the number (407) 939-3463
