When they saw the star...

They rejoiced with exceeding great joy, great joy, great joy!!

I just LOVE Candlelight Processional, and felt inspired and listened again to the CD with Louis Gossett Jr. as a narrator that I have from my time there. It always brings tears to my eyes! It´s soooo good, so touching! What a great show!

I specially remember the lady doing sign language and this particular song because she really had our attention while "acting" it! We (cast members working there) loved her! We ended up learning the chorus in sign language! (I can´t remember it now though).

I just felt like telling you... I know you all understand when I say that I cried almost everyday when I saw the park decorated for Christmas! I couldn´t help it but I had tears in my eyes and a knot in my throat when seeing how beautiful it all looked! :)

Ok... I´ll shut up...enough for being emotional today! :animwink:

A picture of me and "My Three Kings" as I called them. This was on Christmas ´98 when I was the "official" escort for their presentations in the Mexican Pavillion. I had a blast doing my little speech and being their "bodyguard"!
In '99, I was working in Guest Relations but for my last day at work, I asked to be the escort for them again and my manager granted my wish, so I wore the white dress again and did my piece too! So much fun! The Holiday season was the best! :sohappy:

Maria, Thanks for starting this. I've never seen the show before, but I wish I could have. I'm having a hard time finding my Christmas Spirit this year. But hearing stories helps. I need to remember the true meaning of Christmas. This is the first year that I've had problems doing that.

Anyone else have any good memories?

Whenever I hear the songs (i.e. on the radio or in public), I can't help but to think how horrible it sounds from the CP version!! :p I bought a version of the CD in 1998 or 1999, but I bought the latest version of 2001's Christmas CD, which includes the Overture and the brand new song of that premiered that year....and I think replaced "Away in a Manger"..."ooo, oo, ooo, o, ooo, o, oooo, o, oooooooooooooo"

:hammer: I can't wait to see it this year! :sohappy:

aaawwwe, that's sweet though. I really long for the days of when I was a child. Everything is so magical yet, simple. Every year we would go to the Christmas Program at church and afterward get a sack of candy with an orange. Then on Christmas Eve go to my Grandmas house while we sang Christmas Carols. That night was so exciting, waiting for Santa Claus!!! Then every Christmas morning I would wake up before the sun came up and sneak in the living room to see what Santa had brought. The stockings would all be filled, and I could barely contain myself wanting to find out what was in them. Ah, The days of Childhood. Of course, Santa stills visits every year so I love watching dd's face light up with the same excitment.

LOL! ya I stared at that tree all night, till I fell asleep! How my parents got the gifts under the tree without waking me up is beyond me! LOL! and I didn`t even get to see Santa clause cause I fell asleep!:(
But he ate the cookie and drank the milk I left for him!:D

I love the Processional... I've been to Epcot a few times this month and I haven't sat in the theater to watch it, but I listened to a little bit while coming out of The American Adventure. I didn't sit down and watch the whole show because I usually do that with my parents, and I wanted to uphold family tradition. We always get the dinner package.
Anyway, the Processional always hits me pretty hard too. It's a great, great show. I want to be famous one day so I can come back and actually do the processional. Imagine being up there while the show is going on and getting to be the host/narrator of the program. wow...
Yeah, I want to do that... I need to get cracking on that screenplay.

I worked in the theater, but on the other side from where she signed. Well one time I did get to see her and they way she signed...it was just so fluent and powerful. I was totally amazed! I couldn't understand any of it, but it was very graceful. A couple of my friends practically had the show memorized in sign language after working a couple of weeks there,.

...what I would give just to be there for a night! :(

Alicia, Thanks!! It was awesome girl! Indeed, "It´s the most wonderful time of the year!" :)

Jrashab, I hope you don´t miss it this year. It´s not the same sitting down for the whole show than listen to it passing by it, right? :animwink:

Eric, it was just a matter of bad timing that you and I didn´t meet! I worked the show but not every night, I mostly did the escort for the three kings in 98, but after my shift was over, I would go see the last one of Candlelight. In 99, I didn´t work there, I was at GR, but tried to g see it every time I could. I saw the last performance on my last day at the parks... I took my parents to see it once too and they both loved it. They still talk about it! :)

Oh, don't worry... I', going to be there on Sunday night to see the processional with my family... and, no, it's nowhere near the same watching it from the outside than it is from the inside,,, I'm going to try to get the fam moving a little eariler than usual so we can get really good seats for the show. not a lot actually moves me, but this how does... everytime... without fail.

Maria, I totally agree with you on how the park decorated so beautifully for the holidays will bring tears to your eyes. It does the same thing to me. The first time that I saw the Processional was in Dec. of 97'. It was beautiful! I think I must have either cried or had tears in my eyes for the whole thing. It had a special meaning to me that year. We (my husband and girls) took my mother with us on this trip. My dad was supposed to join us also, but he had passed from cancer in July. It was bittersweet watching the performance as I too was entranced by the woman who signed so magnificently. I looked over at my mother who also had tears in her eyes and knew she felt the same way that I did. The performance took on a whole new meaning for us. After the performance I purchased the tape also. It truly makes one realize the true meaning of Christmas! Thank you so much for sharing your feelings on this Maria.

Right... so... wow.
I forget how good the Candlelight processional is sometimes. That show is just phenomenal, really. I'm not the most emotive guy in the world, but there were times when it started to get dusty in there and some of it came close to gettig in my eyes and forming a lump in my throat.
Anyway, it was an amazing show. When the conductor turns around and starts to lead the audience in Silent Night... wow. I don't know if it was the 40 degree temps or the show, but I was getting goosebumbs.
Plus, the tree was beautiful, the bridge was great and... (sigh).

There's nothing better than Epcot during the holidays. The Osbourne lights are cool and the MK is classic. I've never been to MVMCP, so I can't speak on that. But, Epcot is it for me... I love it.
