when does everyone start buying stuff for their trip. today i bought a case as my hand luggage for the plane and when i got home i began putting some stuff in it like my disney beach towel, sunscreen that i bought over there, hats, sunglasses, bags, soap powder, even though im not going for another 182 days, im still very excited coz it feels that my holiday is begining to take shape now. anyone else have this problem.

I tend to book late - usually with less than ten weeks to go, that's how to get good prices from the UK, so I don't buy things long in advance.

Don't start packing in earnest until a couple of days before.

I don't really start packing till about 2 weeks before- because I tend to unpack and repack so many times with the kids and everything. Haven't really bought anything for this trip (other than MVMCP tickets and AP's) but I have a Deluxe Passporter (WDW planner) that holds all the important information (and all my tickets and stuff) so that way I keep everything in one spot.

I made a list of everything I need to bring with me back in Feb in anticipation of my trip in August (49 more days. Yipee! :sohappy: ). I pull out my luggage the week before , mainly just to get myself more pumped up. But I don't start actually packing till 2 days ahead of time. Around the time I take out my luggage I pay a trip to Walgreens or CostCo and buy my supplies (sunscreen, medicine, etc.) I know Disney carries this stuff in their sundry shops but I refuse to spend the inflated prices. That is when I start feeling the magic, putting everything in my bag.

I booked our honeymoon for this Nov back at Christmas and I immediately made a list and have been buying stuff as I see it/in sales etc. I love the anticipation of it all!
Only 132 days to go :sohappy:

I buy stuff all year long. If I see it ,and I think it would work on vacation, I bring it home. We usually don't start packing until a few days before we leave though. (and we always buy more "stuff" there)

We leave in 25 days and so far I've bought a skirt and capris. A Tinkerbell beach towel and a Tinkerbell carry on bag. I just have to get my Coach backpack and I'm set. Right after we book our trip I start going off with "I need this, and that would be so cute for WDW".

If I pack like more then 2 weeks before we go my whole family is like, OMG STOP PACKING SO EARLY. They pack like 3 days before we leave. They always forget stuff and I never do. I get packed just to get pumped about disney 8 months before we're leaving!

Let's see, I start packing two to three days before the trip, so I usually buy stuff about a week or two before, just to be safe.
When I was young, I packed a month ahead! My parents always thought that so adorable!

we don't get to go often, so this time when we booked 11 months before travelling, we started getting stuff together straight away! (can't control the excitement)

I'm going in June of 2006 and I've already starting making lists of what to buy and pack! I'm getting my official "Walt Disney World Vacation" folder (probably a cheap binder I will decorate with computer graphics) today... it's good to be prepared!

I make a binder too! My paretns call it my Disney Bible. It has printouts of stuff from allearsnet.com (menu's, hours, emh hours, AP discounts, packing list) I had a two inch binder FILLED, but it came in handy almost every day!

I start gathering things as soon as we book our trip. I usually put out a small duffle bag, and when I thing of stuff I might want to bring, I toss it in there. I just got back from WDW, and for this trip, I had a 6 page packing list.....needless to say I didn't forget a thing!

I start buying stuff for the trip right after booking it. I usually book about a year in advance, and the first trip-related purchase is usually the most recent Unofficial Guide to WDW. I'll pick up various things throughout the year (clothes, games, books, etc.), but I wait to buy the snack food until the week before.

We live about 1,200 miles away, so a trip to our favorite place is a rather large part of the year, especially because of a certain significant others inability to fly.

Anywhere from about a year away from our trip I usually first create a MSWord document to serve as a cheat sheet. It includes: reservation numbers, prices to expect for tickets/transportation/food/etc., a list of restaurants to consider, and a make-shift park schedule. Then I e-mail it to the others involved in the trip (my girlfriend and my baby sister, ALWAYS), and I ask them to write just about anything they can in a response. Then as the vacation gets nearer things become more concrete. I make the PS arrangements based on the parks we will be in and the group's suggestions and attach an "official" driving page with our directions.

We bring food with us for the drive and inside the hotel (we always stay on disney property), but that is done in the last month we are leaving. During that time we pretty much just pile up stuff we bought, like toothpaste, and call everyone to update them on our status almost daily.

We will buy some things ahead of time so that we are not buying $200.00 worth of stuff the week of our trip. It is easier to spread it out a bit.

As for packing, my wife will pack hers and my daughters stuff a couple of weeks or week ahead. I do mine the night before. Mostly because I bring a lot of tee shirts and I wear them all the time. If I packed them ahead I could not go anywhere as I would be shirtless...
