When did park hours change!?!

We go to WDW the same week every year but this year all of the park hours especially MK seem shorter. Normally MK on our trip is open 9am-11pm but this year it is open 9am-9pm, when did the hours change so much?

Yeah, 9AM to 9PM is the typical placeholder times for MK in summer. A month or so out they'll modify them to the real projected hours which for the last few years have been 11PM or later in May.

I've been there when they changed the closing time that morning. It was scheduled to close at 9 but announce on the tram ride from the parking lot that the hours had been extended to 11pm. Like the said it depends on the number of guests that are expected and six months out they really have no idea so they advertise the minimum hours because it is better to extend them then the shorten them at the last minute.

I saw the same thing for our June trip. I was making dining reservations based on park hours. All park hours are the generic 9AM-9PM etc. I am guessing the updated hours won't come out until maybe March or April.

We are going in June, and I just noticed the early closing times when trying to come up with a plan. We've been in May several times and it was never this bad, even this far out. We didn't go last summer, so it may have been the same way last year. There were a couple days when they extended park hours that day, but that was already on top of 11pm.

I read about how the economy was down, and it's easy to add on hours later. It would be a real bummer if they didn't, though. That's really the main advantage of going in the summer.

Also, if you look at prime spring break time in March, there are only a few EM evenings posted.
Haven't looked at the hours, but usually there's only one evening and one morning EMH per week ( outside of the horribly crowded periods like Christmas).

Summer hours will no doubt be extended as the dates near, but if they follow last year's pattern, don't expect them to go as late as previous years. And if they continue the After Hours, upcharge, expect earlier closings at least once a week ( maybe more?).
